User Rating: 8.5 | Ratchet & Clank (Platinum) PS2
Wow. Ratchet And Clank is just an awsome game. I bought it without out renting it (like I do with lots of games) and for the first time ever, I liked it.

When you start the game, you're treated to a nice looking video that explains the story. After that, you start playing as Ratchet. You walk around until you fing your little robot friend, Clank. From there, the story starts to unfold. It turns out that some villan is trying to distroy planets to enlarge his own. As the good guys, you need to stop him at all costs.

When you start the game, you have your wrench, and 1 weapon (the bomb glove.) Once you've gotten to the space ship that you have to use, you find out what you have to do on each of the planets that you can currently access.

Once you're on a new planet, you can buy ammo and weapons.

One of the things I love about this game is that there's no difficult training mission. Some games have had me completely frustrated (like Gran Turismo 3) because I couldn't master skills that I can't fore see my self using. You don't have to train in R&C. As new stuff comes up, the instuction instrument (I forgot what it's called) tells you what you need to know.

The aiming is quite strong aswell. When you go into first person mode, it's almost impossible to miss your enemy.

Not only is the game incredibly fun, but it also looks great. R&C has great crisp graphics, and an amazing amout of detail. If you want, you can just stand and look at the scenery. It's all so colourful, and the animation is never choppy. The movies look just as good.

The sound is some of the best I've ever heard in any game. The background music is nice and catchy, but not repetitive, and the sound effects are all great. Dispite how good the sound effects are, the best part is easily the voice acting in the movies. Ratchet, Clank and all of the bad guys sound perfect. The voice actors have alot of emotion, and do a great job with the sound.

Ratchet and Clank is easily one of the best games I've ever played. While my first experience was a little underwhelming, it grew on me very quickly. Words can't discribe how good this game is.

Before I played this, I didn't like platformers. R&C is the game that completely turned me around.
