Great start for the series
Music and sound: The game has some great music. Every planet has its own theme which are all very decent. Some planets have better themes then other planets, but there isn't a single bad theme. The weapons have each one fitting sound effects and the rest of the sound effects are in general good. The voice acting in this game and the series is some of the best i've ever heard in video games. Especially Jim Ward , who voices Captain Qwark. This is also the only game which features Mikey Kelly as Ratchet.
Gameplay: Because Ratchet and Clank is an action packed platformer , you will do a lot of shooting and jumping in various planets and locations. Central in the game is collecting bolts, which you can use to buy weapons with from the various vendors, that are placed around the levels. You can also collect Gold bolts , which you can use in Challenge mode to buy gold weapons, which you unlock when you finish the game. Challenge mode is essentially another run trough the game , but with all the weapons you unlocked so farThe game has also some race levels, but those are in my opinion not so fun to play.
Story: Another amazingly good thing about the game is its story. The story is essentially very basic: A bad guy , named Drek, wants to make a planet for his people by using materials stolen frrom other planets. Ofcourse Ratchet and Clank must stop his diabolical plans and save the universe. That sounds not so very special but the charm of the story is its incredible good humor. I'm still laughing out of loud when I look at some of the cutscenes once again. That element of the story pulls the story to a whole new level.
In short: If you like platformers or action games, this is certainly one to check out.
