When I saw the trailer of into the nexus I was exited to see that Insomniac were finally working on the next single player R&C title. And all though I really enjoyed this game, I was really disappointed to find out this game was only five levels long.
But let me start with whats good about this game. The first things I noticed were the amazing graphics. This series always manages to bring these amazing planets to life with very clean, almost animated movie-like graphics. The second thing I noticed was the improved gameplay. After a crack in time didn't think the gameplay could get any better. But the changes in this game make it much more fluid. To use your jet boots you press R2, instead of having to switch with the D-pad. I had to get used to aiming and then throwing the omni wrench at first but it works easy in battle when you have to switch between your weapons and throwing the wrench.
There are also new platform elements in this game such as gravity hopping which is very enjoyable. Although I thought it was a shame that there was very little use of this threw out the game. I hope to see this more in the future R&C games. The grav tether is also a nice new feature allowing players to cross large large gaps and adds nice puzzle elements to the game.
The story in this game is great. And I thought the villain Vendra, was also very interesting. And once again the sense of humor had me cracked up all the way through. It was great to see some of my favorite characters again. These are more reasons why I think its a shame this game was so short.
I really enjoyed this game. But I can't help but think Insomniac are milking this series with all these In-between-titles. The online multiplayer elements of Q-force could have easily been incorporated in a full R&C title. And into the nexus was fun but way too short for €30. INSOMNIAC PLEASE STOP TEASING US AND GIVE US THE R&C WE'VE BEEN WAITING FIVE YEARS FOR!!!
I don't know... maybe I was expecting too much from this game... But its hard not to with a game as good as a crack in time.
Anyway, Im usually not the type to write a review ( in fact, this is my first review ever). But I felt I needed to share my opinion with my fellow Ratchet and Clank fans.
