A sometimes funny story

User Rating: 6 | Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One PS3
Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One is somewhat of a disappointment to say the least. The game offers neutered gameplay against enemies that take ridiculous amounts of damage. The camera has been revised to a fixed position, this was an act to accommodate co-op play, and it shows how poorly implemented it truly is. This fixed camera can lead to deaths by not seeing the platform where your jumping, and even sometimes your left attacking enemies you cannot even see on screen. This makes it difficult to jump out of the way of oncoming attacks. These aspects limit the scope of the game for solo players like me, and many times when your partner in crime Clank is supposed to do something, he simply just doesn't react. Many times you use a vacuum to shoot him across and he refuses to get off your back. My last and final gripe with the game is the fact they tweaked the art design of these wonderful characters.

Not all is 100% lost though. If your a fan of the series I recommend a rental because it does offer some semblance of entertainment. The voice acting is just as humorous as ever. Also the graphics are extremely crisp, and heavily detailed throughout. The creative weapons like the Critter Strike does offer some entertaining combat. The foundation is solid, but the sum of the parts just don't live up to the other games in the series. Here is hoping the next game in the series is back up to standards, which will be Full Frontal Assault. To me it felt like All 4 One should have been a downloadable title, instead of a full retail release.
