I'll admit, this game does not quite have it all. There are no twigs on which to get the hook stuck, as happens to me almost every time I head out there. And you won't get eaten alive by mosquitoes. Other than that, however, the game presents a mimicry of the fishing experience that is almost better than the real-life equivalent.

The graphics are nice and clear. I've admired the Rapala games since their days on the Sega system. The choices of bait, the looks of the player and the boat continue to improve as well. One of these days, they'll come out with a game that offers every type of fishing trip you can imagine-- scuba, deep sea, trawlers and river, as well as the standard trip to the lake at the state park. When they do that, I'll be overjoyed. Until then, this game will do quite well.
