- The Bottom Line:
- "Disappointing"
This game looked SO promising, and then turned out to be SUCH a disappointment. The one truly challenging Big Boss battle came early in the game, and by the end, you are just fighting wave after wave of stupid mutants who make pig grunting noises as they fling themselves at you. The side games of cards and dice are silly, and the whole "shoot a mutie" scenario gets really, REALLY old after a few hours. Driving around hunting for rare plants to sell, and shooting enemies while in your dune buggy are somewhat entertaining, but tend to be the highlight of the game, rather than one part of many.
Having now played the game 3 times, my original disappointment stands, and is even stronger after trying to find some strong points to offset the overall mediocrity of the gameplay.
The conclusion is visually stunning, yet the cutscene ends suddenly and goes to the credits, when just a bit more effort to show what happens after the arcs come out of the ground (perhaps people slowly coming out, shielding their eyes from the bright sun) would have given this a more complete feel to it. As is, the game just feels like it was rushed at the end, with a lot left to fall by the wayside...

Like a beverage that sparkles and promises a rich taste, yet loses its fizz too quickly.

Best combat oriented FPS out there. Even better than HL.

Ridiculously short. About 25% of a whole game.

- Right after you leave your Ark you find this bobblehead, but you can't collect this one, but there's 3 in the game in various locations you can collect and sale for $150.Posted Jan 8, 2012
