*THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SOME MINOR SPOILERS*
First of all let me say that I really enjoyed this game for the most part. I love old school id shooters and I found the gameplay in RAGE quite satisfying. I even liked the racing sections, and the co-op multiplayer was a blast, even though it was a bit lacking with only 9 missions that went by way too fast. And i was lucky enought to avoid most of the technichal issues that seem to have plauged many PC users. In fact, after the most recent patch this game is one of the best looking and smoothest running games I have ever played on PC.
However, there are a couple of major issues that keep me from giving this game a higher score. First off is the difficulty, I mean seriously? I played this game on Nightmare for my first play through and I literally walked over every enemy in the game. If i play a game on Nightmare I want it to be a struggle every step of the way. If you have any experience playing FPS then dont play this on anything below hard or nightmare, cause it will be a freaking joke.
**MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD**
My other major problem with this game is the ending, or lack thereof. Once you hit the second half of this game it feels pretty much over already. Then the game quickly rushes you into an anti-climactic final battle that leaves you competely unsastified. There was no major boss at the end, and the final level was actually easier than many of the areas that came before it, especially with the plasma cannon in hand. The only explanation I can think of is that id is obviously leaving the door open for future DLC to continue the story, but that just makes me even more pissed off. They charge us $60 for a game that is half finished just so they can hit us up for more cash later on down the road. I also wished the MP would of had a bit more to it, I seriously can't believe that id didn't throw an old-school deathmatch mode into this game. I can only hope that the excellent PC community will get a chance to mod this game and create a great MP experience.
To summarize, this is a very enjoyable game in my opinion, but there is just not enough there to justify paying $60 for it. Hopefully id gives us some awesome free DLC in the future to keep old school fans like myself coming back for more.

Like a beverage that sparkles and promises a rich taste, yet loses its fizz too quickly.

Best combat oriented FPS out there. Even better than HL.

Ridiculously short. About 25% of a whole game.
