Definitely not the game of year
Rage is a cool game but far away from what I have expected. It takes many elements from other games to exist but offer nothing new instead. Most obviously it's a kind of replica of Borderlands and Fallout series. Just look at graphical landscapes, bandits, cars, cities and so on. When you step in Wellsprings the only thing does not happen is a welcoming Claptrap instructs you how to survive.
As a survivor you should fight and prove yourself to others to gain respect and fame and keep the way open for you. After earth impacted by an asteroid, humans struggle to be alive but they scattered and most of the survivals live in in remote cities. You have valuable info which could help humanity to rise again. But we should fight for that.
The only way to move from one part of the map to another is by cars. Also there are races to gain fame and upgrades for your car. I think if we have the ability to pick up what dropped from our fallen enemies that would make this game much better. There are moments that we are facing an enemy and we wish if we had their equipment instead. Because of those fighting enemies is not so much challenging. After a buss fight or intense gun fight there is no reward for our efforts. Also somehow this game suffers from the lack of leveling up and become stronger by taking down the enemies. For instance there is no rewards or level ups for head shots or destroying more enemy cars.
The only thing that matters for me was the graphics. It's really bright, full of details and vibrant. But apart from this good point, it seems to me to be a kind of no surprising game, which have everything we had seen before.
