I've played this game for more than 12 hours now and I must say it's a solid game and it does deserve the 8 score. I've been waiting for this game for more than 4 years now and it was my most anticipated game of 2011. I'm a bit disappointed so far in regards to anything outside of the main missions. It's not too bad but just a bit disappointed. On the other hand the main story is a blast. As for co-op there is not many missions but I was still very delighted and surprised they actually put split-screen co-op in the game but only to find out that they were taken out of the main single player campaign. Which also leads me to my next point: a lot of the maps and missions are recycled material of the actual campaign. They've copied the campaign missions for side missions and the co-op missions. If you do anything outside of the main campaign you're pretty much repeating the same missions and maps. I can't say I'm too surprised since ID has been working mostly on the game engine for most of the development of the game. Here is to hoping Doom 4 turns out kickass! But in the meanwhile I highly recommend this game, especially for Doom fans. A lot of the game is reminiscent of the Doom franchise, specifically Doom 3.
