The president of id Software, Todd Hollenshead, breaks down everything going on at QuakeCon 2012, including Doom BFG, Quake Live, and Dishonored.
Was a little disappointed with Rage even after all the fixes, and to be honest I'm very worried about Doom 4, but we'll just have to see what happens. Dishonored looks great though, if maybe a little easy.
Can't wait to get BFG up and running. Be great to have an excuse to play through the whole thing again :)
All hail Carmack.
Can't friggin wait for Doom 3 BFG Edition! The original Doom 3 was one of my best gaming experiences... I still feel slightly romantic looking at the clips here.
This video makes me want to play Half Life: Deathmatch. Or Deathmatch Classic. Sweet simple free-for-all with all the fun weapons.
@Jonesga3 LMFAO!!! It does look like him dont it..
LOL!.. You made my mid day afternoon with this one.. lol
Thank you : )
As a spectator sport, id might want to update those 1999 textures. Wish I could say I was exaggerating..
@clookoo213 hopefully we get a multiplayer system like in Quake 3 Arena, so kids nowadays get to play REAL multiplayer fps action. Not that COD "hide and call a chopper" thing.
@metzenlord battlefield 3 and halo are good multiplayer fps... takes skill to play and ur driving the vehicles. nt calling them like in crappy cod.
@mdboomer I'm not 100% but I think Rage was in production before Borderlands. However, due to funds and Bethesda buying ID out it was put on hold for a bit, and Borderlands was released first. While similar in scenery they differ in many ways.
And Fallout (even though i'm not a fan) they have everyone beat on that post apocalyptic thing, aside from Mad Max.
I wish I wasn't forced to sit through all the Quake Live crap because all I really care about as a spectator is what the team at Id Software have to say and the actual panels, don't care about championship or whatever but hey if you are in it good for you, I'm just not interested in watching because it get's boring for me....
@MJ12-Conspiracy You don't know how to use a schedule?
Quake had ridiculously little screen time on this Quake(!)con.
Duel play offs weren't even streamed live because they played the same time as Carmack's keynote and Qcon orgs couldn't afford a second stream for that. But hey, they've got a give-away mustang and t-shirts!
"Playing on the consoles for the first time."...It was on original Xbox and it was great, I loved the co-op mode. Unless he meant particularly this gen, in which case :x
I honestly think its been years since id software made a decent game after DOOM 3 (I thought that game was hate unlike some people)
I hope Carmack doesn't talk about mobile gaming in his keynote, but more about the next evolution in games, be it better graphics or new gameplay.
