Frag fest!

User Rating: 9.2 | Quake III Revolution PS2
Quake 3 was actualy one of the first games i bought for my PS2, simply because i wanted a game that me and my friends could play together.
Damn was we surprised. The blood, the bodyparts, the sounds, the weapons. They all blew us away.

First the single player campagne. A good frag fest over several arenas with diffrent sett of chalanges ranging from kill a sett amount of people to capture the flag. Nothing fancy realy. The added rewards you get for certain ways of killing people gives it an extra boost to play along the edge of things, like killing people using only your saw-gauntlet, sniping, not dying through out a fight etc.
The other thing that keeps this going is that your carracter gets better as you progress through the arena, gaining more max HP, speed, defence and damage. The carracter also changes aperance as you progress, getting battle scares, new armor etc.
But all this would be useless if you couldn't use it other then in the single player, but oh thats the whole idea. To make your carracter ready to do battle against your friends.

Multiplayer. This is where you will duke it out with your friends with you carracter from the single player mode or just picking a carracter at ramdom from a list.
In the Multiplayer you can choose from Deathmatch, Team deathmatch, capure the flag and som other mods over a wide selection of arenas( from the single player mode). All aimd at having a lot of mayham and killing done on them. The spilt-screan works surprisingly well in my opinion, screan-cheating must be expected though.
Only drawback is that there isn't any online play ( the HDD/moden wasn't released yet for the PS2 ), if it had online play the game would probably never die. But even without online play that split-screan multiplayer keeps you and your mates entertained for months, even after 15000frags(last time I played it I hade over 16000frags;) ) it stil keeps going.
What keeps this pounding for months is the ranking list, here you and your mates can see how many frags, deaths, total points and such. Its always fun to try to get the number 1 spot among your friends, or having the most frags.

Overall: If you don't have any friends then you won't be entertained for very long, but this game could certenly get you some friends. If you got friends and a PS2 then you should get this and shoot the crap out of eachother. Even if its getting old, its a good retro game.
