PURE is a solid ATV racing game from Disney.

Two things surprised me with Pure...

#1 - Disney was the developer of the game.
#2 - This game was surprisingly good.

I received this game, along with Lego Batman when I first purchased my XBOX 360 some three years ago. I was instantly impressed by the good graphics and the customization capabilities available for the player and their ATV.

The graphics and animations are very cool, as you can see your racer's shirt flying in the wind when going top speed, or have him or her drenched in mud when going through a pit. This game was just surprisingly overall nice considering you got it as a throw-in for getting the XBOX.

There is a large variety of tracks, all of them having sharp turns, large jumps, and just adrenaline fueling action.

The customization of the ATV was also very deep, which also surprised me. You are able to customize colors, wheels, engines, and just about everything else. You can truly make the ATV the way that you want it.

Like most racing games however, the AI is extraordinarily good, and very rarely makes mistakes unless you find a way to knock them off of their trail. This, along with the harder stages as you progress make this a very difficult game to fully complete. I for one, will admit that I did not get all the way through this game. The difficulty along with the other games I wanted to try out began to turn me off to this game.

An annoying perk with this game is the way that driving a bit to far over to the left or right instantly throws your racer off of his or her ATV without much of a warning to get back on the track.

Another problem with Pure is the lack of a good split-screen system which is imperative in racing games like this.

I did not have much experience with the overall online play, so I am going to decline to comment on this aspect of the game. You would be best to seek information elsewhere on that topic.

I ended up spending a fair share of time on this game, until I moved on to the other games that I picked up when I first bought my XBOX. For my first 360 game, I'll say it was solid. Very solid. If you see it sitting in your local bargain bin, pick it up. It's good for a few hours of solid racing fun.
