Punch-Out!! is a K.O.

I remember waiting for hours at the arcade to play Punch Out. Then, I spent hours at home playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out, and later with Super Punch Out. Now, Punch Out for Wii returns with a mix of old characters as well as a new character, Disco Kid. I love Punch Out for Wii, mainly because it reminds me of the original, but doesn't feel old and rehashed. The visuals fit the game perfectly, using a cartoony style that brings the characters to life. The gameplay is very reminiscent of the older games, jabs, blocks, dodges, and Star Punches. The trick to Punch Out is to learn the pattern of your opponent, and to time your punches and dodges to leave your opponent vulnerable. I normally play with the controller NES style, but, you can also go Wii Boxing style, and incorporate the Wii balance board. Multi-player is done very well. You both start off as Little Mac and then as you land more hits, you grow to Giga Mac, a hulking monster of a Little Mac. As Giga Mac, your moves give the other person a window of opportunity, like the Single Player, to stop you, but, your blows do much more damage. All in all, if you liked the other Punch Out's you'll like this one, and, even if you haven't played one, you'll most likely get hooked as well.
