This could have been much better.

1.) The combat system. It's not "crazy fun" like Mr. Review guy says it is. Why make me stop every battle and notify me I'm in a battle. What happened with Kingdom Hearts? The enemy's would appear and you'd hack away. Also, the turn-based/real time attack system is awful. Why make me feel like I'm pushing a button and THEN it happens when SquareEnix has made games (like KH) that aren't so clunky?
2.) Materia - What was wrong with the FF7 style of leveling up materia? Why change what was done so well the 1st time?
3.) No XP? What's a Final Fantasy game without XP? That's like a baseball game without the ball. What's the point? I think SquareEnix needs to go back to the drawing board and pull out some old-school style RPGs and quit trying to modernize everything.
All in all, the game needs work, but from what I've played so far, the story is going to be interested. I just don't understand why they they thought I would be happy with less control over my character. I think people need to get over the fact that it looks pretty ('cause Square's games always did) and realize what's changing, and not what's staying the same.
