PES 2010 kicks off in autumn

Konami promises Pro Evolution Soccer will return to series' simulation roots on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, PC later this year.

Though Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 managed to boot FIFA 09 from the top spot of the UK charts when it was released in November, critics held it in less esteem than its Electronic Arts-developed competitor.

With Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, the publisher is seeking to best its rival on both fronts. The game will ship this autumn worldwide on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PC, and PSP.

Konami has focused its efforts on improving the core gameplay in the new Pro Evo, promising a return to the series' simulation roots. According to the publisher, key improvements to the AI mean that midfielders and defenders will work together, eliminating weak spots and the chance for soft goals.

Konami is also promising a number of other tweaks under the hood. The publisher touted a new power-gauge system, which will assess players' formations against their opposition's before and during a match, as well as a new penalty system that seeks to improve control and accuracy.

The overall look of the game is also being tweaked, with creator Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka aiming for better player likenesses, animation, and lighting systems. Konami also plans to improve Pro Evo's online component, and intends to release a number of items as downloadable content after the game's launch.

Last but not least, Konami has also secured an exclusive Europa League licence (formally known as the UEFA cup), having locked down the Champion's League rights last year. Argentinean Lionel Messi, who plays for Barcelona, will be adorning the game's box in Europe.

back to PES vs FIFA talk...
i bought both PES and FIFA the 2009.what i could tell you:
yes,PES is for men but FIFA is for freak.
    FIFAutstanding graphic,outstandingly idiot AI,terrible control
PES:some graphical flaws(you'll find GK's glove is awfully too big, pixellated uniform even at highest graphic option, and else)and really could't stand againts FIFA's graphic, genius AI,terrific control, dude,i like this game

i wonder how's next series will looks like?

I am a huge PES fan and the only thing that annoyed me on PES 2009 was the dam goalkeepers fumbling shots right into the path of a forward! VIVA LA PES!!!

let´s be honest this is a great game, but KONAMI needs to improve. They can´t give us the same game every year with team updates only. We need gameplay, more signature moves downloadable updates and content. And most of all better online performance, PES 2009 online platform was really bad, that´s why ea sports had a better performance last year. I am a PES fan thats why i am realistic because i want KONAMI to be on top!

What is everyone on about!? PES 2009 was really good! PES 2008 was a bit dissappointing in terms of gameplay and presentation. Both got way better in PES 2009 though! I'm expecting a much much better online gameplay though as it is still unplayable! I hope that they also increase their overall licences of the teams s that they can become more like a real game though. FIFA is all about the presentation, manager mode, detailed graphics, etc. That is all amazing in FIFA, even the music is way better than in PES. In the end though, the core of the game is its gameplay, where PES, especially 2009, beats the gameplay of any FIFA that came out untill now

It seems Konami and PES give good luck to the players that appear on the cover of the game box, not like the so called Madden curse; when CR7 appeared on the cover in 08, he had a great season, became MVP of th year and now Messi will probably become MVP this year, not to mention that both players won UCL respectively, PES RULES!!!.

PES always has the best gameplay out of both games... the only reason i have heard anyone who was into pes buy fifa09 was because of the online problems pes has.... hope this is rectified then i wont have to buy both

Yeah i had a lot of hardcore PES mates that had to admit that fifa 09 was the better football game, they REALLY didnt enjoy admitting it. its about time too, having the license means they should really be nailing it. the last pes really annoyed me, did anyone else get annoyed by the sound of the football when it was kicked? sounded like a bloody cannon!

The last couple of PES games have been crap. Many of my mates seem to have turned to FIFA now, including me, and it isnt right!!

They should just re-release Pro Evo 5 lol, that was the best. Even keep the PS2 graphics lol, im not bothered. Gameplay is key!

2 all da haters out der..

first of all, FIFA used 2b gd and fun back in the days, before 2000.. ever since 2003 onwardz, itz been goin down lyk derz no 2moro. WTH?? Pro Evo has bn da real deal...the real simulator eversince.. only problemz i rememba is wen i first startd wz i used 2 complain a lot abt all da problems.. bt now i hardly complain nemor.. in PES2008 everytin was almos perfect apart from da fact dat u'd get a foul very quick just by SLIGHTLY touchin some1 or bumping in2 dem.. which was crap. in PES2009, it was all good, apart from da old school tap shoot u had to do, coz da shot power guage wd fill up real fast (datz coz dey used the same engine as PES 5 for PES2009).. in PES2008, da shooting power guage control was awesom. But PES2009 has the most realistic gameplay iv seen 4 its time in any soccer game since last playin FIFA 2003.

Fifa.. wen u play it, u kno ur being messed with.. like ur wastin ur time..
apart from the commentary and the real feel of it all-- being licensed and all -- and all dose unlockables for the little kids to enjoy, doesn't have much else to offer. I mean have u seen how big the stadiums are relative to the players.. no stadium in the WORLD is dat big. The players look lyk ants. I mean i used to hate pro evo with passion right until PES 6.. bt wen PES2008 came, u realised things started to change.. and PES2009 was jus magnificent.. I mean now, wen u play PES2009, itz nt even strict nemore what with the fouls and offsides and bookings. But FIFA is..coz all FIFA ever does is follow PES.. with the pass/shoot delay.. wen u press da button, u gotta wait for YEARS for the guy to kick da ball.. they overdo everything they see in PES which they 'think' to be a plus in there gameplay specs..wth? And u cnt really see mch improvements btwn consecutive FIFA games, i mean itz hard coz each FIFA release has always been totally different to the previous release.. eg free kicks, shooting system, menu style etc etc. They always change in every new annual releas. Not much of an improvement, more of a change.. i mean cmmon, dey still havent settled down yet.. dey still dunno what is the best option in a certain aspect of the game.. wth?

FIFA is totally confused.. PES is improvin and learnin from deir mistakes... and are gettin ever closer to perfectionism. They have a path that they follow in an orderly manner.. unlike FIFA.. all i can say is PES needs improvements in Licensing, and DEFINITELY online lag.. they shouldn't even make us wait for stupid patches to come out. And also make the shoot guage a slight notch better.. similar to PES2008.

    I rest my case..

playing 2009 sucked with all the slowwww gameplay feel..made me roll back to 2006,the much faster paced and more fun to play..guess in 2010 they will make it even more realistic by slowing down gameplay...which means it wont be that fun..but nyway i wish they add more rewardsss in the game..like new shirts or balls or ANYTHING..can't they learn from EA?

    @PESwonderkid
You know that Ronaldinhos not that good, right? Saying tat anyone can pull off a trick from ronaldinhos book really isnt impressive. And there arent really advanced tricks in FIFA. Maybe like a rainbow, but any 12 year old in america who plays soccer can do that.

Ah... don't be stupid, play this game on PC and change the OPTION FILE and you'll have every team players, shirts and names. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE GRAPHICS, I just want a real football game, like the older ones.

I am really dissapointed with PES, I remenber when it was WE 5 (2000) for PS1, I just couldn't stop playing, but since PES 4-5-6 the game quality were decreasing, and with 2008-2009 they just focuss to much in graphics, I can't handle the players, in high game difficult everytime I try to run with a player (with the ball) it's foul. It would be better if they returned to previous versions gameplay and with more IA and these graphics it will sure be a GREAT GAME, for now on it has a 7 no more, here in Argentina we know what is football, I've playing this game for more than 10 years, I wish this time they do it better.

Nice to see some fellow pes fans.

While Fifa may look better and have the licenses. All you need to do for pes is get an option file (PS3) and the Premier League is back to fully licensed glory with the superior pes gameplay!

    PES Rules!
