GC 2008: Konami unveils Lords of Shadow, GTI Club Plus

New action game, reworked mini-racer lead the pack; Silent Hill coming to PC, Pro Evolution Soccer to be released in October.

Konami had a rather quiet time at the E3 Media & Business Summit this year, with Solid Snake a notable omission from the publisher's lineup. While Snake may have slithered off to spend the rest of his days away from the gaming spotlight, Castlevania: Judgment, Silent Hill: Homecoming, Rock Revolution, and more all filled in the gap.

The publisher chose the Leipzig Games Convention 2008 as the setting for its announcements today, which included Lords of Shadow, an action adventure game that European product planning manager David Cox described as a "dark fairytale with a European twist." Cox said the game should appeal to fans of Mexican director Guillermo del Toro (director of Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, and the upcoming Hobbit movie).

A brief trailer showed a heavily armoured medieval character who quickly dispatches a giant troll using a flaming chain-whip (a la Castlevania's Simon Belmont). Details were scant, but the Mercury Steam-developed game should be out in early 2010 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Also announced was GTI Club Plus, an HD reboot of Konami's classic arcade racer from the 1990s. Based in and around the Cote D'Azur (French Riviera), GTI Club is racing exclusively to PlayStation Network in November. The bite-sized racer, according to Konami, supports online play for eight competitors, new HD graphics, new tracks and cars, as well as support for the PlayStation Eye camera. No details were available on whether the game will come bundled with a handbrake, which was a highlight of the arcade original.

Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry was today announced for Nintendo DS. The Animal Crossing-esque title supports Wi-Fi play and centres on a character's path to becoming a master wizard. It will be out in spring 2009.

In other news, Konami revealed that Silent Hill: Homecoming would be making its way to PCs alongside the console versions in November and showed a new creepy trailer. In it, a particularly disturbing boy claimed to hold all of the answers and called to watchers to "find me and everything changes."

Fans of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will be pleased to know it will be coming to a multitude of platforms this October. A spokesperson highlighted the "Become a Legend" mode where players can start out as a rookie and work their way to being a top player in a league club.

What does this have to do with the Wii? I see it in the Wii news section but I see nothing in it about anything for the wii. Is Silent Hill coming out on the wii or something or is this another syntax or programming error?

I love Konami for real. The publisher offers a wide array of variety of games including not only metal gear witch is amazing. What im trying to say is they are amazing because they are not a one saddled pony. They are diverse and wonderful.
