EA swapping out bugged NCAA UMDs

Publisher recognizes ball-spotting issue in PSP version of NCAA Football; discs will be replaced for free within 10 business days.

There's nothing like taking control of a running back, slipping a few attempted tackles by the defense, and marching onward for a huge run. On the other end of the spectrum, there's nothing like pulling off the preceding maneuver only to have the ball taken back to the spot of initial contact because of a glitch in the game.

That very bug has plagued some copies of NCAA Football 07 for the PSP, according to Electronic Arts. On the game's official Web site today, the publisher announced that it will replace copies of the game that exhibit the glitch with brand-new bug-free discs.

To get a fresh copy of NCAA Football 07, gamers should send their affected discs, along with their name, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number, to the address below:

EA Customer Warranty
Attn: NCAA PSP
209 Redwood Shores Parkway
Redwood City, CA 94065

A replacement disc will be sent out within 10 business days. To apologize for the inconvenience, EA will also send out coupons good for $15 off gamers' next purchase at EA's online store, as well as free shipping on the order.

NCAA Football 07 for the PSP was released on July 18. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's review.

It seems that everyone here is just willing to forgive EA for their blatant and cavalier attitude about this "screw up". If there wasn't such a huge public outcry EA would just ignore it and laugh at how it fleeced the public with a defective product. If we give companies that practice these methods a free pass then we are sending a message that it is alright to forego the playtesting process if the schedule is getting too tight. Too bad the PSP doesn't have a harddrive to download a patch like we are unfortunately having to get accustomed to (xbox, xbox 360) because of certain developers laziness, so I hope this recall really hits EA in the pocketbook. No other way will make them change their ways. I'm getting used to being an unwilling beta tester for Windows operating systems (thanks MS) and PC games but I'll be damned if I am going to put up with it on a closed console system where you don't have more than two variations (HDD or not) in the future. Clean it up EA. You like to parade around and act like a leader for the industry so show some leadership and prioritize quality over arbitrary deadlines. Especially with games that only seem to get a roster update over the previous years edition.

That cool that they are replacing the disk with bug free versions, the Game is good but the bug did hurt the game. Glad to see EA fixing it's mistake.

Go buy a used one and sent that to them.

EA games are always problematic.....EA and their wannabe monopoly sux. Everyone should boycott EA games until they release their stranglehold on sports and gamers.

you would of thought that a bug that big would have been found, guess EA drop the ball this time (no pun inteded). With them being the biggest publisher atm that there testers would have found sumit like that o well money can't buy you brains but i wouldn't put it past Ea to try and buy that out too

Took EA long enough to figure it out, but maybe consumers will figure out that the PSP and many EA titles are poorly placed together garbage.

I love this. Oh we'll give you a new game and 15 bucks so you can spend that at our store so we can get more of your money? Why didn't they just send a second game or a coupon good at all stores?

Then again in good news, not a lot of people are going to buy NCAA for the PSP since it's a dying system.

Give poor old would be tyrant EA some credit, at least they are replacing them and offering some sort added bonus as part of an apology. Bugs in games are always going to be present, some are just cosmetic or are not major enough to honestly ruin gameplay, this one hindered "progress" a good bit so it's clear to see why they'd do a recall of sorts.

ConManWithGun, EA isn't dying. And if it was. do you know what we'd lose? We'd lose the NCAA Football series, the MOH series, the C&C series, and the Battlefield series. Does anyone here really hate EA so much that they'd be willing to lose these series just to have EA gone?
