UK game charts: January 7-13

It's all change at the top as FIFA's reign finally draws to a close.

Electronic Arts' stretch at the top of the UK all-formats chart is over for the time being, as Capcom's new third-person shooter Lost Planet: Extreme Condition has jumped straight in at number one. It was followed by the Nintendo Wii-exclusive WarioWare: Smooth Moves at number two.

FIFA 07, the best-selling game of 2006 and the first number one of 2007, has dropped to number three, followed by fellow football game Pro Evolution Soccer 6, Need for Speed Carbon, and Rockstar's Canis Canem Edit (Bully in the US).

Lost Planet is the fifth Xbox 360-only game to reach the coveted top slot--it follows the earlier success of Dead or Alive 4, Saints Row, Dead Rising, and Gears of War. The latest chart has a total of 17 format-exclusive games.

Retailers have finally had new deliveries of popular Wii game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which helped to bring the game back up to number eight from 36--making it the biggest climber this week. Other Wii game deliveries also arrived in stores, sending Red Steel and Wii Play back into the charts, to 34 and 19, respectively.

Games that fell down the chart include Buzz! Junior: Jungle Party, which plummeted 14 to 37. Aside from the top two games, there was only one other new entry, Sega's World Snooker Championship 2007 at 17.

New releases this week include the highly anticipated expansion pack for World of Warcraft, The Burning Crusade, which held an official midnight launch at HMV in London's Oxford Street last night. Around 3,000 fans, some wearing costumes, turned up for the event, which was hailed by Blizzard as "overwhelming." Several customers had been queuing since the early morning.

The chart seems to show up sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. Gamespot is a pretty rubbish site really. But I hate IGN more so I still use it.

I am SO looking forward to getting the wii and wario, just a few more games to be released and I will get them in one go (thats how I roll ).

It is insane to the the 360 and its games doing so well. This time last year everyone here was saying "xbot 360 sux"...
But then again, those were the same people who said "ps3 will dominate, ds will lose against the mighty psp and the revolution will suck".

Well done Lost Planet, at the moment I am on mission 9. Its a pretty good game, although, its quite annoying at times with the boss fights being impossible tough (when you get constantly knocked down and cannot do anything except watch your life finally give up on you after about 5 minutes...).

Christ on ice! A half decent UK games chart. Chavs run out of money or something? Get rid of the EA junk and you have a line up of great games.

Wario Ware is brilliant. I had my first Wii accident playing that game. Sent a can of Dr Pepper flying across the room trying to saw a log in half!

Sega's World Snooker Championship 2007 is actually a pretty good game. Burning crusade will own charts when they update for a while.maybe for 2 weeks. but it will still be constintely selling copies like WoW did for the first year

Lets see if WoW can make it to the top

I don't know if they include PC games but it will be the easiest no.1 ever. Especially for the first week.

yea i saw that coming. lol. come on snatch wasnt that bad. but soccer is soccer. football is football. sorry im american. not proud of it, but nonetheless, i am. fifa may sell well, but itll never reach the sales numbers madden have or the 2k series would if EA wasnt such money hungry globaly dominating micronation in and of itself. Sega makes a better football game. football, not soccer. if soccer is football everywhere else, then what are we supposed to call our football? Maddenball?
