UK game charts: December 17-23

Need for Speed Carbon tussles with FIFA 07 to regain the number one spot.

Electronic Arts has had another good run at the registers for the week of December 17-23, with Need for Speed Carbon and FIFA 07 again jockeying for position on the UK all-formats chart. EA's latest racer outsold its football game to move back into the top slot for the week. Slightly further down the charts, Pro Evolution Soccer 6, Call of Duty 3, The Sims 2: Pets, and WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 all changed places within spots three to six.

There was one new entry for the week, Sega's Sonic Rivals on the PlayStation Portable at 38, and several reentries, including Ubisoft's Red Steel for the Wii at 34 and Nintendo's Big Brain Academy for the DS at 37.

The highest climber of the week was Eragon, which rose 15 places to 24, no doubt buoyed by the film's theatrical release in the UK. Conversely, the biggest loser of the week was Bratz: Forever Diamonds, which fell 10 places to 27.

As more console units hit the shops, many Wii titles were on the rise, including The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess--up one place to 11--and Rayman Raving Rabbids, which reentered the chart at 32.

Yeah alot of you are saying people in the UK are fukin stupid and the charts have crap games and Im from the UK and I totally agree with you. The charts are always Fifa and NFS and some crap movie port game, its always the same. We aint all like that, I hate that shiit GOW and COD3 should be way up there.

RaiKageRyu .. I did see that it says PS2 platform on the charts.. but that is actually a mistake of gamespots.. this is an All FORMATS chart.. Big difference.... If you go to other gaming sites you will see the same list and they will say All Formats.. so either gamespot is right and all the other sites are wrong or the other way around.. One thing to point out in the UK is that they love racing games.. GOW is a better game than carbon.. but it's not a racing game. People have to understand that there is great interest in racing games.. and their will always be interest.

Amazing, the PS2 is in more homes in the UK than any other console and yet people are still surprised when it's new games outsell games on the Wii which is rarer than rocking horse ****

People in the UK always seem to concentrate on pretty bad games,at the most,OK games. Why is Need for Speed Carbon one of their best sellers?

i'd take pro evo over fifa anyday.. the only reason pes6 aint on top of fifa is because of the name licensing.. dont believe gears of war is behind happy feet! thats just weird.

I'm surprised the #1 game isn't some flavor of soccer anymore. NFS Carbon on the 360 isn't really that good, I guess the PS2 version has some merit to it after all.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 beats FIFA 07 by far.... fifa doesn't even make a scratch on pes 6.....you in USA may now it as winning eleven, but its not tottally the same...if u think of playing a football game (im not going to say soccer) u better play pes 6 or winning eleven (i think the last one is the 11th)...if u dont accept my opinion u may purchase both fifa and pes or win...ven and ull see....

Good for NFS. I believe their games are great, but not greater than FIFA. I have both games, and FIFA 07 in my book beats out NFS by a long shot.

well if your in the UK Teletext on BBC2 ( page 550 )shows all the individual charts so you can sumise from that if FIFA is No 1 on PS2 and NFS no 2 that a fair percetage of the sales are on other formats.... However beware because the person that writes those pages is shamefully bad ... they even game superman returns a glowing review .... it's as ilinformed as the games pages of some of the 'Lads' mags !

    Re: RaiKageRyu

I see what youa re talking about now (didn't notice it first) but I wonder if it is just the GameSpot system that requiers them to list a plattform for each game.

Up until now the UK chart has always lumped together all format of a game when making up the chart. So for instance the NFS:Carbon scores include sales for all plattforms.

I would be very surprised if they changed it just now. Do you ahve any links saying that? Because that would be interesting. I can see why this kind of summarized chart is interesting but at the same time it is making it hard for single-plattform games to make a serious attempt to beat EA's various games that come out on every possible plattform. Cool that Zelda still managed to come in at 11 although that also includes the few Cube versions they sold.

    RE:mrjasler

You need to look at this chart again. Obviously you missed the fact this counts titles for thier respective platforms only. NFS:Carbon is number 1 not because it sold on all platforms but it sold better on the PS2 alone than Gears of War for the 360.
