E3 06: Eidos picks up Justice League

Publisher reaches agreement with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to distribute Justice League Heroes in North America and Europe.

In 2004, Eidos picked up the distribution rights to Lego Star Wars. The move proved a boon to the publisher, as the game went on to sell more than 3 million copies and was one of the top-10-selling games in the US for 2005. When Eidos parent company SCi beat its revenue expectations by more than 33 percent for the back half of last year, Lego Star Wars was given as the reason for the unexpected spike.

Eidos is perhaps looking for history to repeat itself, as the company announced that it has picked up the North American and European distribution rights for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's upcoming Justice League Heroes. Developed by Snowblind Studios, the outfit behind Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Justice League Heroes puts players in the spandex tights of Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and a variety of other DC Comics heroes as they work together to battle the forces of evil.

Justice League Heroes is set for release on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PlayStation Portable this fall.

Hope they do justice to the Justice League. Its up to the developers not to mess it up, cos the Marvel franchise is kicking DC's ass on the gaming side of things. I just hope they don't make it like a kids game with crappy animation.

I'm in no hurry to get a next gen system, so having it out on ps2 is fine by me.

Uh, hows about a DS version eh!? Please!? That'd be pretty righteous. I NEED a good game with a Green Lantern! I really can't think of many people with PSPs that'd buy a JLA game anyway...

I've seen news about this in GI a while ago, I don't like the character models that much but if the studio behind BG: Dark Alliance is working on it I'm game, at least it looks better than Xmen Legends.
