Shippin' Out June 18-22: RE4 Wii, Hot Brain, BIA & SimCity DS

Resident Evil 4 debuts on the Wii, Midway's PSP puzzler sizzles craniums, and Brothers In Arms and EA's urban-management game build up Nintendo's handheld.

As evidenced by tepid reviews for Scarface, Red Steel, and Medal of Honor: Vanguard, action games haven't fared too well critically on the Nintendo Wii. This week, though, a survival shooter that has already earned accolades aplenty on the GameCubeand PlayStation 2 ships out. Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, a reworked version of GameSpot's 2005 Game of the Year, arrives today for bearing a $29.99 price tag and an M for Mature rating. Check out the full review to see if it measures up to the first two editions of the game or ranks alongside the less acclaimed PC edition.

The Wii RE4 dominates another slim release slate. The only other major console debuts are DiRT and Raw Danger, although both the Xbox 360 and Wii will receive new downloadable titles.

Portables fared better, with Ubisoft's celebrated Brothers in Arms series and Electronic Arts' storied SimCity franchise making their first appearance on the Nintendo DS. Also arriving are the first Transformers movie tie-ins on the PlayStation Portable and DS, one week ahead of their console counterparts. Sony's handheld also gets three more titles: the Fred Willard-hosted puzzle game Hot Brain, the block-shifting Puzzle Scape, and the self-explanatory PQ2: Practical Intelligence Quotient.

Only two titles interest me, the Transformers movie tie-in (only hope it isn't a let down, as I've found handheld equivalents to be) and the PQ title (which sounds intriguing).

    Apologies for the double post.

If you never owned RE4 as many people who have a Wii probably haven't, it will be pretty sweet for newcomers. It is something to brag about considering everyone is saying its the definitive version.

Why would I get a game I already have for PS2 and played on gamecube? I bet the graphics will be the same anyway, unless there's an online mode added its no point. Prime is right, there's nothing to brag about this week.

i'll probably get Resident Evil 4 for the Wii because of the extra content the Gamecube version of mine didn't have and becuase of the controles, graphics and sound.

I checked with many of the retailers in my area. For some reason they have Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition as a June 19th release date, they have the game, but for some reason they won't sell it until June 20th. I don't understand this. Blockbuster had the game on the 19th and they had it out for rental that day. Is this becoming the new trend with video game stores, selling things 1 day after the release date? I happened for me with Motorstorm and God of War 2. I don't understand this. If this is the case, store can bank off this. Best Buy (or whoever) can say "hey, we actually sell things on the release date", and that'd draw in customers. Is there anyone in the game retail trade that can enlighten me?

Not sure about buying video games based from a movie, but SimCity should make a good edition to the DS collection.

DonutTrooper > Goldeneye was just like any generic movie-based game. It loosely followed the movie. However, Rare did a damn good job of making it fun to play, and multiplayer was the best.

RE4 and Sim City sounds like this weeks pick.
