EA puts Sadler on NASCAR covers

Professed gamer and driver of the no. 38 car snags the coveted cover athlete spot for upcoming racing game.

NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler has always been into games, but now he's on one. Electronic Arts today announced that Sadler will grace the cover for its upcoming NASCAR 07 on the Xbox and the PlayStation 2, as well as NASCAR on the PSP.

"I'm thrilled that EA has chosen me as their cover athlete for the game this year," said Sadler, who has been involved with the gaming franchise for years. "I've been a big fan of this game for a while now and play it as often as I can whether I'm on the road or at home."

NASCAR 07 will feature a new Momentum Meter that builds up as players escape from dangerous situations, as well as drivers with "real-world attributes and ratings," the ability to fine-tune car handling with a sliding scale, and Skill Points that can be risked against other drivers, with winnings being used for upgrades.

The PSP edition of NASCAR adds a rewind feature that gives players a second chance when their first attempt at a pass or skillful negotiation of a turn ends poorly. And while the PSP game won't feature the team commands from last year's NASCAR game, it will incorporate that game's on-track rivalries system.

Both versions of NASCAR 07 and NASCAR for the PSP are rated E for Everyone and set for release September 6.

I thougth ppl that think nascar was a redneck sport didnt exist anymore. I guess i was wrong. All of u bashing the sport should shut up because u dont know anything about it. there is strategy in nascar, races can be won or lost in the pits. and nascar requires skill, if you've ever played a nascar game u know wht i mean. road courses are actually easier than ovals and all u europeans go suck F1's **** and leave this great sport alone. u dont see us mindlessly insulting ur sport. and by the way im from colombia, and i grew to love this sport.

I truly hope the rumors of this coming to the 360 in February are true. I cant wait. What I would like to see though is DLC for the cars. If teams are running special paint schemes for races, I would like to see them in the game. NASCAR has soo many cool paint schemes at times, and it is a shame that up until this point you havent been able to add new paint schemes. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

BTW, I also wish that they would include contracts and stuff for the drivers. Like if your contract was over after the year, you could replace a driver on another team that was released from their contract.

    This game's gonna be awesome!

Can't wait to start my own racing team!

And for my spare time, drive the wrong way on the Daytona 500 and just smash into cars until I'm the only one left (Loved doing this in NASCAR 2003 with no damage but may not be possible on NASCAR 07, depending if you can turn your damage off but not theirs).

I love it when ppl say that nascer isent a real sport...lol...i see it as one of the greatest endurences every....i would love to see any football, baseball, or whatever player try and sit in a daytona 500 going 195 into a corner, sitting in over 110 degree in car temps, haveing to constantly hold the steering wheel, while making sure not to hit anyone of the surrounding cars...

Many ppl say that drivers dont even train for races... well most of the drivers say they are in a gym for 3-5 days out of the week...plus divers can lose 5-10 pounds during a race... and trust me there are much more boring sports out there...for instance...can you really sit down and watch a baseball game all they do is hit a ball and the RUN LEFT!!!...lol that is one of the most boring sport ever... and if you think that you think nascar is a hick sport you are an idiot...it would take alot more then a hick to manage a multi-billion dollar industry....and ive heard ppl say o i can race in nascar...and i say...well you got 4 million dollars to start up a team...lol, and over 500 thousand dollars for each car...i dident think so...

I cant wait for the 360 version of this...i might also pick up the psp version..

If they could have about 24 to 30 players online racing on 360 I'd pick it up. Sadly, I doubt EA would even give that a thought.

Maybe I can dumb down why NASCAR is a sport to some of the other members who need a little insight as to why NASCAR is a sport, actually second most viewed sport in the United States, according to the dictionary a sport is: "An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively."-hence a race of any kind is a sport because the drivers have to physically fight a car into a corner at times, it is governed by rules, yes the guys in the uniforms labled Official do actually do stuff, and it is very competitive, actually it has finishes that can be as close as 0.001 seconds, it is the most competitive sport in the US because of the close finishes, and if they did not physically exert themselves then tell me why drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr. or Tony Stewart have been injured in it, or even why Dale Earnhardt Sr. died in the 2001 Daytona 500, there is no doubt that this is a sport

some of us are actually just comparing it to other motorsports. Thank goodness there are more fans worldwide interested in other motoring events, than NASCAR, drag, and drift combined.

Alright, we all know there's a certain group of people out there that just love pointing out that NASCAR is boring and pointless because its just a bunch of good ol' boys turning left...a lot. That's fine. If poking fun at NASCAR and its fans makes them feel better about whatever sport they do like, then, by all means, they should go ahead and poke fun over and over and over and over... But, do any of you really think that being strapped into a 750 HP cage on wheels while guiding it down a narrow straight away at 200 MPH, surrounded by thirty other roaring machines and with one of those oh so boring left turns (and a wall) just a couple hundred feet away wouldn't get your heart racing? Be serious. If you're not into NASCAR, fine. Go waste tires drifting around a mall parking lot. I'm sure the 75 million NASCAR fans and the $2 billion in annual revenue they generate can get by without you.

Heh...I'm sure a TON of people that visit this website care about this info. Thanks GameSpot! My day is now complete because I know some hick who makes millions of dollars for driving in an oval is on the cover of the game case. Sweet!

"What's the matter, just because F1 has the same darn guy winning race after race in a boring fashion doesn't give you the right to bash NASCAR."
uhh...NASCAR isn't much different. Look at last year, Stewart won like every race ever.

    and YAY FOR SADLER!

Who the hell keeps making NASCAR games? I mean honestly, does anyone look foreward to making a bunch of virtual left turns over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over..........................

EA is likely making Nascar 07 for the 360 and PS3.. but I believe they are doing those versions correctly (well.. correctly in that EA way). I have a feeling they are making the game from scratch (like they did with Madden, and are doing for NHL 07 for the 360 and PS3), and releasing it when it should be released.. and that would be around Daytona 500 time in February 2007.
