Burnout Dominates PS2, PSP

New edition of Burnout officially announced for Sony's current-gen consoles; game will crash storefronts in 2007.

Back in late August, Electronic Arts confirmed what everyone expected--the Burnout series would continue with a new installment on next-generation consoles. However, those unable to pony up for the higher-priced Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles felt as though they were being left in the dust.

It turns out the console the franchise debuted on, the PlayStation 2, isn't being passed over. Today, Electronic Arts announced the development of Burnout Dominator, exclusively for the PS2 and the PlayStation Portable.

The game will retain the core gameplay of the series, as players will race at top speeds through dozens of World Tour events testing "reckless skill-based" driving techniques. Currently there are no plans for the versions for each platform to interact with each other.

Burnout Dominator is currently development at EA's studios in Guildford, UK (also known as Criterion Games) and will be released in 2007. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's exclusive Q&A with senior producer Nick Channon.

Burnout Revenge and Burnout Legends were ridiculous, hope it's as good as them. I really wish it was in next-gen though

hopful burnout dominator will still have some serious crashing just like revenge!!! If not it's going to get a bad rating, but most likly it wont. I don't like the blue flame, it should be fire like all the other burnout games they better change that.

Cooool! Cant wait. I just bought a PS2, with BoR, and loved it. Ive heard that Dominator is getting a simmilar gameplay as Burnout 1 and 2. Not so much fighting as 3 and R. I hope that Wii get a new Burnout game soon, Burnout Legends DX or something, with elements from Legends and Revenge.

playing this game on the PSP will be awesome. Even though I've owned all Burnouts on Ps2 before, I will make the transition to the PSP now.

Glad to hear a new Burnout for the PSP. Burnout Legends was the best driving game the PSP has ever seen.

Why have a system die if you cannot deliver enough new systems for people who want them? LAWLz....ok $$$ony where's my PS3? I have the $500, but not the Ebay price of $1,200+
as for Burnout, love the series. EA will deliver its [final masterpiece on the PS2!

    Well that blows.

Let the PS2 start to die already.

PSP on the other hand needs all the help it can get.

Long live PS2, amazing console this thing is. I can't believe how developers are sticking out to it. Who wouldn't? Making games in the ps2 is much more simplier than making it on the next gen console. yay burnout, can't wait to get a copy. And cheers to those game developers who are supporting the PS2, I salute you.

I don't blame them its obvious that the high production costs od the PS3 game will limit profits and so they have to resort to making games for cheaper to make systems to balance the books.

I'm glad PS2 is still getting support. It's got a few more hits up its sleeve like this and God of War II. Better even, I'm betting it'll probably be at a lower price, like 30 or 40 bucks. This should hold me over until I find the PS3. Curse you, Sony, for only shipping three to North America!

And please stop complaining, fanboys. You know that it's only a matter of time before they port Dominator to the 360.
