THQ assembling Wall-E

Publisher confirms massively multiplatform summer release for game based on upcoming Pixar film.

While THQ has said it is trying to focus more on creating and building its own stable of wholly owned franchises, the publisher still banks heavily on a handful of lucrative licenses from the likes of WWE and Nickelodeon. Today, the publisher offered some details on the next project for another of its high-profile licenses, Disney's Pixar animation studio.

THQ has confirmed that its gaming adaptation of the upcoming Wall-E will arrive on "all major gaming systems," including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PC, Mac, and mobile phones. The primary developer on the games will be internal THQ shop Heavy Iron Studios, which handled other THQ-Pixar collaborations, such as The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

Wall-E is set to arrive in theaters June 27. THQ's games based on the film are expected sometime this summer.

    It's this nightmare that haunts me every time a Disney game is released. Disney games are so bad they're not even recommended for kids!

    They make these crap games because they're cheap to make, and it makes quick money for em. I was told It only takes about 12 Months to make since they regurgitate the same simple engine every time. which means, class, If you've played one you've played them all. It's just a little prettier this time. So go ahead and buy it when it comes out, but when you're trading it in 2 days later, remember this message.

    When they will ever learn that "Games Based Off Movies Are Bad" and it's on muitiplatform and that will equal bad it will take a mircle to get it right like that same mircle that made Goldeneye 007, Fast and the Furious (Arcade Verison), and TMNT (Gameboy Advance) so awesome.

    Sadly there will never learn it will be another rushed game. If they only could release the game when the DVD comes out in November 2008 that would make a lot more senses.

    Nerkcon: "Massively multiplatform" is what the title of this story says. Not "massively multiplayer". The actual game is listed as being a "3D platformer".

    MMOs based on movies now?! And to be scattered across all platforms?! Has the market gone mad over Blizzard's success?! MMOs are the future. This is just insane! A MMO to make money because it's based off of a movie... and to be on every platform including cellphones. I think I'm going watch this game, it will be interesting to see how this turns out. I don't even think it can be done.

    EDIT: Read it wrong! >.> But I have heard of people trying to get MMOs on cellphones.

    sad..sad...sad there games are not that good but latly they are getting better...movie games stink but still bring in a whole lot of money every time...and why do they make games for mobile again????

    Avid gamers agree: Movie games stink. Casual gamers agree: They like to spend their flow on the movie games. The only time it becomes a problem is when a hard-core gamer decides to buy one of these and then starts complaining that the game is awful, and my response is always the same, "Why bother?"

    I'm totally interested in Pixar's next film and know a ton of the movies plot already, and with what I know, it sounds like it will be yet another classic from them... But the game is just another movie-licensed game that I assume will be bad.
