Snoopy, Red Baron to dogfight on PC, consoles

Namco making cartoon combat game based on Peanuts WWI fantasy; due fall 2006.

Peanuts mascot Snoopy the beagle has taken on many roles during the series' incredibly long run, from a struggling writer to a hockey player to the persona of Joe Cool, but none are as inexorably linked to the character as the World War I flying ace. Straddling his doghouse wearing pilot goggles and a scarf, Snoopy imagined himself as the ace in his trusty Sopwith Camel, taking to the skies to do battle with the sinister Red Baron.

Gamers eager to re-create those legendary dogfights without the pesky need for imagination can look forward to Namco's Snoopy vs. The Red Baron, today announced for a fall 2006 release on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, PlayStation Portable, and PC.

The game will feature more than 50 single-player and cooperative missions, customizable planes, and six environments. Snoopy vs. the Red Baron will also include team multiplayer, versus multiplayer, and battle modes.

Snoopy vs. the Red Baron is being developed by Smart Bomb Interactive, the company behind Namco's upcoming kart racer Pac-Man World Rally, due in summer 2006.

    Like the poster above said, the Atari 2600 game of a similar name was very amusing... Guess its a remake of that? Really odd.. I was just playing it the other day.. Heh.

    I'm a fan of the Peanuts series, so this is cool with me (even though I have my doubts that the game will be good). It's a little odd that their is no mention of a GameCube version. Poor Nintendo fans.

    Awesome!...Snoopy is flying a plane!

    Now that i have Snoopy mug, bag, pencil, tie, and shirt...why not a Snoopy game

    PS: I am not a snoopy fans...really, it coincidence that i have most of Snoopy marking item..but wait err or thats because my ex-girlfriend is a Snoopy freaks

    They need to get the rights to the Royal Guardsmen song about Snoopy and the Red Baron.

    Why tha HELL is it not on a Nintendo system?! Don't they know that a lot of Nintendo gamers are snoopy fans?! Stupid!!!

    A great idea that is a long time coming? Am I the only person here who remembers the old Snoopy and the Red Baron game on the Atari2600? Maybe it's because I was like 6 at the time, but that game was pretty awesome. Your energy bar was represented by the number of bullet holes in your dog house. Go find an emulator and look for the ROM, it's good clean fun.

    Have you ever read a game's preview, and felt that sick horrible feeling in your stommach, that feeling that says "it will suck......it WILLL suck..." I'm sorry, but we all keep saying that it might be good for games like this, but com'on. I was right in my 50cent: Bulletproof predicition, Chronichles of Narnia, (I like the books, but the game-not so hot.) You want another prediction?

    i really hope that namco doesn't f*** up this game cause i will really be upset but if they make a good game then i will be very happy and the first get this game.

    i just got to thinking about the time this is supposed to hit and namco's other flying game. and i think this could be kind of a test for an ace combat psp game.

    I can't wait was a big fan of the Comic's Snoopy is the best .I hope it is a great game.

    THe more games come out for the PSP the more happy I will be.
