The new release section of the PlayStation Network has been nearly as crowded as actual store shelves of late between the PSP Go launch and a wealth of new downloadable PS3 content. That trend continued with this week's update to the store as PlayStation 3 gamers received four brand-new games, the PSP online catalog grew by nine newly downloadable offerings, and one more original PlayStation game was added for users of either system.

On the PS3, gamers can now download .detuned (pictured) for $2.99. More an interactive music program than a game, .detuned allows users "to create dynamic artwork in real-time to accompany your XMB music collection." Fiddling with the controller as the music plays will alter the music being played to better fit the scene.

The rest of the PS3 offerings are more traditional game experiences, like the kid-friendly minigame collection Buzz! Junior: Monster Rally ($4.99), Creat Studios' fungi-themed real-time strategy game Mushroom Wars ($9.99), and Boolat Games' Topatoi, a platformer-puzzler in which players control a giant spinning top-like vehicle. A pair of previously released games were also discounted temporarily, as Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty currently sells for $9.99 instead of $14.99, and Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars dropped from $9.99 to $4.99.

The PSP sees an influx of newly downloadable games this week, spearheaded by a trio of Rockstar Games titles. Players on the go can now bring with them digitally distributed versions of the controversial action game Manhunt 2 ($29.99), as well as the racers Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and Midnight Club LA Remix ($19.99 each). Other new titles include Sony's own SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike ($15.99) and Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max ($19.99).

A handful of PSP games for the younger set were also added, starting with Astro Boy: The Video Game ($29.99), the adaptation of the new film. Natsume's long-running agricultural series sees a couple of offerings added to the PSP's downloadable store with Harvest Moon: Boy & Girl ($14.99) and Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon ($14.99). Finally, Reel Fishing: The Great Outdoors ($14.99) offers players an on-the-go adaptation of the hobby, perfect for killing time while actually fishing and waiting to get a bite.

Finally, Sony has released a new original PlayStation title playable on both the PS3 and PSP. Eidos' Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation ($5.99) was the fourth installment in the series to hit Sony's first console and features Lara Croft doing her thing in a place rife with tombs worth raiding, Egypt.

A full list of the new themes, wallpapers, and other content in the PlayStation Network update is available on the official PlayStation blog.

I agree. There were "good" ps1 titles, but none are listed except Final Fantasy 7. Oh boy, they just released another line of crap this week!

Mushroom wars looks interesting. I might buy Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars now.
Too bad Uncharted 2 is taking up all my time.

Tomb Raider? I'm surprised Crystal Dynamics haven't yet remade the other TR games. Mushroom Wars... well I can think of many jokes relating to the Kingdom Fungi. I can also think of a few species that are deadly too.

PSN games are fine.. but Sony still needs more discount prices for most old PSP titles available today.. in addition to that, more CLASSIC PS1 titles, not CRAP PS1 titles

The offerings of the back catalog for the Go is great but i'm not liking all the prices. Some of the new stuff is $39.99 or $29.99, the exact same price they would be in stores. If they don't have o pay to ship the copies to stores and and you don't get the case, surely you can sell them for at least $5 less than a physical copy. Plus, games like Street Fighter ALpha 3 Max have been $19.99 since 2007. That should be $14.99 by now physical or digital.

Is SalarianChemist a person who believes anything he/she/it wants to believe? IT IS A RUMOUR THAT THE NEXT DS IS GOING TO CONTAIN TEGRA. Second, the PSP is not $249. The PSP is $160 as a core pack, and the useless PSP Go! is $249, so get your facts straight... EVERY comment I see from you is like one from a child with an IQ of 10.

A lot of junk for the most part. I already have the Midnight Club games on my XBox/XBox 360 and PSP. SFA 3 MAX might be worth a look and maybe Harvest Moon, but everything else I'm not really interested in. I was looking for games like Fear Effect, Out of this World (it's sequel Heart of an Alien), Brave Fencer Mushashi, Parasite Eve, Crash Bandicoot 1-3, Pandemonium, Jumping Flash and other hard to find titles.

Not really interested in any of the games this week, I understand with the PSPgo coming out the constant arrival of PSP games but I really wish they would stop wasting time releasing PSone games and spend that time on fresh content. I mean how many of you people out there went out and bought all the Tomb Raiders or Coolboarders? When I want some nostalgia I go further back to Genesis, NES or even Atari 2600. The PSone was the first system to bring us 3D platforming which was extremely innovative at the time but most of it looks and feels like absolute garbage now. I couldn't even enjoy Twisted Metal 2 when I tried again its just boring, I mean how sad is that. Fresh content please. You can start with a new Twisted Metal, even if it has to be a downloadable although Id prefer a full retail release.

I think the PSP is not a good investment right now, especially for $249. Now that we know there is a new Nintendo DS on the way with a powerful Nvidia GPU, along with a dual thumbstick design, I think this new DS is going to be even more dominant than the previous DS.

Idea for PSN: LET ME STREAM NETFLIX.
Upgrade the clunky browser so it is actually usable.
I bought it hoping it would be a decent home theater PC, and it is a total fail.
I'm going to have to buy a dedicated HTPC and relegate the PS3 to the exercise room. Vote this up if you want a better browser.

    @ChidoriBoyU

I don't believe you have to choose a state, but I may be wrong. I just heard this as an easy solution for people in other regions to get region-exclusive content. I'm in the US, but I was thinking about making a Europe and Japanese account so I can see what exclusives they've got
