King Kong game sports alternate ending

Those who play through Ubisoft's film tie-in can unlock a denouement that has the eponymous simian live.

Besides the novelty of being able to tear up New York City as the titular great ape, the game adaptation of the King Kong movie now has another draw. Ubisoft has announced that Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie contains an alternate ending to its filmic inspiration, "in which players can save the giant ape from his cinematic death, pilot an airplane, and discover Kong back home on his native Skull Island." Players who finish the game and then earn 250,000 points while replaying it will be able to access the alternate ending. Ubisoft did not say which versions of the multiplatform game had the ending. Surprisingly, the alternate conclusion was made with director Jackson's express blessing. "I wanted the game to be able to take the audience a bit further than what the film could," said Jackson.

    i couldnt be bothered getting all the points so i just used the cheat, but every time kong dies, it just restarts from the top of the building! anyone else had this prob?

    it's really not that many points, it takes an extra hour or so of playing to get that many points, besides you can pick your favorite levels to replay, and the game is fun. too bad there isn't any multiplayer.

    Too many points are reqd. to get to that ending. Not worth the time and thr effort.

    Give me a break to those that complain this new ending somehow destroys "the moral of the story". You already know the ending, its been around for 70+ years, so why not give a little kick in the pants? Don't you think that would be.....(shock) fun....as in fun=games.

    Its a good game at least rent it. Not the best of the year, but it has some great suspense and it actually at times is better than the movie.

    Well at least it gives it more replay value, Im currently playing this title whenever i get tired of playing condemned and NBA2K6. So right now the cycle value of playing this game might increase

    Awsome I really enjoyed playing this game on my 360 it is an AWSOME experience it really surprised me. This makes it even better

    That's pretty kool. I'd make a guess that the alternate ending is in the Xbox 360 and PC versions if not all of them.

    conkersbat, it's not the actual ending to Kong. Don't quite know if this is spoilers, but really, Kong dies. Oh, and this is old news for me. I got th ending before it was even announced.

    If this is true, cool, but it should be for all systems not just one. That would be unfair to the others. If it had to choose we all know it would be for the 360 just because its more expensive then the others.

    I cant believe you are actually flaming peter jackson for making an EXTRA alternate ending. Its not the main ending, its an unlockable, an EXTRA! Yeah, I am sure Peter Jackson is humbled and ashamed by your comment. You know all about directing, not him, hes a sucka.

    I thought this game was extremely well done and i love the extra touches. Like for instance has anyone checked out the concept art? If not I wont spoil it but the put a nice little added touch on it. Lets just say you arent just viewing it like a slideshow (I was playing the 360 version, so I am not sure but I assume that its the same for the xbox/ps2 version)
