BloodRayne bites into PSPs

Majesco shrinks down vampiric vixen to Sony's handheld this fall; game will feature cooperative mode with new character.

Majesco today announced that its BloodRayne series will be making its handheld debut on the PSP. In development by Full Fat, an independent developer from the UK, the game is scheduled for release this fall.

Rayne, the game's heroine, is a buxom, crimson-haired beauty with an unusual lineage--she's half vampire, half human. Though she possesses several of the strengths of the undead, she also has the unrelenting thirst for blood and aversion to sunlight of the pasty fanged ones. As a member of the underground vigilante group the Brimstone Society, Rayne polices supernatural happenings and keeps evil nightstalkers in check.

The third-person action game will continue the franchise's bloodsucking beatdowns with a variety of new unlockable moves and linkable combos. The PSP version will develop some of Rayne's backstory, as well as bring back some fallen characters and introduce new characters. The handheld version will also feature a two-player cooperative mode, with Rayne pairing up with a new playable second character.

Rayne recently adventured onto the PlayStation 2 and Xbox with BloodRayne 2, and a PC version is scheduled to ship next week. To get a taste of what the franchise is all about, read GameSpot's full review of the sequel.

BloodRayne for the PSP will make its debut at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Be sure to check back soon for more information on the game.

Can you prove 2000AD sued Majesco and won, ending the BloodRayne franchise?

Rayne was a blatent rip off of comic character Durahm Red. She was half vampiric and looks exactlylike Rayne, clothes and all. The company 2000AD sued and won so no more BloodRayne.
