When Electronic Arts takes its familiar turf at the front entrance of the Los Angeles Convention Center's South Hall during the Electronic Entertainment Expo next week, gamers will be treated to a mixed bag of new titles and the latest chapters of familiar franchises. EA today released its lineup of games that will be on display at E3, and it's brimming with some heavy hitters.

Among the all-new titles will be Will Wright's "everything simulation" Spore, which will be shown behind closed doors; Black, the first-person shooter from Burnout developer Criterion Games' and Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, a fighting game that pits Marvel characters versus all-new superheroes.

A quartet of games based on movies, both past and future, will also be shown. The Godfather, based on Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 film, brings the life of the Corleone family to home consoles. From Russia With Love, which features Sean Connery's voice and likeness, will loosely follow the 1963 flick, adding some all-new settings in addition to locations from the movie. Looking forward, EA will show Batman Begins and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, both based on movies slated for release later this year.

Also on display will be several of the latest editions of EA's popular franchises. The Burnout series will be on display in two forms: Burnout Revenge for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 and Burnout Legends for the PSP. Need for Speed Most Wanted will combine street racing with high-speed police pursuits, steering the franchise closer to its roots. Battlefield will reenlist with Battlefield 2 for the PC and Battlefield: Modern Combat for consoles. Also deploying will be Medal of Honor: European Assault, which returns to the first-person shooting action set during WWII. The console version of The Sims 2 and the new The Sims 2 Nightlife expansion will also be shown.

In the EA Sports brand, EA will show Madden NFL 06, NCAA Football 06, and NASCAR 06.

EA will also be displaying a wide range of mobile games, including The Sims, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, and Need for Speed Underground 2.

A preview of several next-generation games, which EA did not list, will also be shown on the floor and in the "Next Gen Lab" by invite only.
