Red Alert 3 expands on XBL, PSN this fall

Following PC release, EALA bringing 50-mission Commanders Challenge mode to Microsoft's, Sony's online platforms for $10.

Command & Conquer 4 may have already been announced for next year, but EA's Los Angeles studio isn't yet done with its most recent installment in the Command & Conquer franchise, Red Alert 3. The publisher announced today that the spin-off real-time strategy game will see the stand-alone downloadable expansion Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 Commander's Challenge for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.

Released on the PC in March as part of the Red Alert 3 Uprising expansion, Commander's Challenge includes 50 new missions set within the same over-the-top universe that has come to define the Red Alert franchise. Players will face off against nine different commanders, and EA notes that each challenge will feature its own distinct win conditions as well as benchmark completion times set by the development team.

Commander's Challenge also adds a number of new units and technologies to the standard Red Alert 3 gameplay, as well as new live-action cinematics and a game mode. Commander's Challenge will be available for $10 (MSP 800).

    YESSSSSSSSSS!!!! I was extremely disappointed when I heard that C&C Red Alert 3 Uprising was not coming out for the consoles. It still isn't, but at least us console gamers will get a taste of it.

    @ mjc0961 thanks, I can never fully understand these gamespot articles, they bring up a topic and then get into other **** that no one (well me) cares about.

    "so is it a stand alone game?"

    Yep, it will be an arcade title on the 360 and therefore probably a PSN title for PS3. The achievements are already out for the 360 version: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/red-alert-3-commanders-challenge/achievements/

    @console-deity
    How was he being a fanboy? I too was surprised about this, considering situation. Noticce that they didn't include the entire Uprising expansion in this. Consoles usually take backseat to PC when it comes to developers used to the PC.

    This is like the "General Challenge" in C&C Generals. Looks pretty promising.

    It just won't be the same without all the over-the-top live-action FMVs.
