Tony Hawk Ride sliding onto PS3, Wii, 360 for the holidays

[UPDATE] Activision takes the wraps off its long-rumored skateboard-peripheral-based game, to be fully revealed at E3 June 2; Robomodo and Buzz Monkey developing.

Last June, the now-infamous Intellisponse leak took the wraps off the now-revealed Xbox Live Avatars, karaoke game Lips, and Guitar Hero World Tour neck slide. Now, yet another game accidentally unmasked by the market-research firm has been officially announced.

This morning, the Tony Hawk Ride Web site--http://thride.com/--went live, revealing the title, platforms, and developer of the long-awaited relaunch of Activision's Tony Hawk series. As predicted by the aforementioned leak and subsequent reports, the game will use a skateboard controller and will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. As can be seen in the shot of the game, the peripheral will be a wireless full-sized skate dek, and it will have the buttons located along one side.

Not revealed in the Intellisponse leak was that Tony Hawk Ride will also be coming to the Wii, nor the identity of its developers. Upstart shop Robomodo--which rose from the ashes of EA Chicago--is one of the shops working on the project, as had been suspected since Neversoft revealed it was no longer involved with the Tony Hawk series. Also present on the site is the logo for Eugene, Oregon-based Buzz Monkey--which worked on Tomb Raider: Underworld (but not as the primary developer).

The game's official site promises more information on June 2--the first day of the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, which GameSpot will be covering live from Los Angeles.

[UPDATE] Activision has now confirmed Tony Hawk ride will be released "this holiday," with Robomodo developing the 360 and PS3 versions and Buzz Monkey working on the Wii edition. The "intuitive" board peripheral will use "a combination of accelerometers and motion sensors" and will require no other controller, the company said in a statement.

Not to tell Tony Hawk to give up...
    But...
    Just join the Skate. franchise.
But this is a great attempt to resurrect the T. Hawk franchise. Not bad. Let's see how it plays out.

the board looks good but i get the feeling it will be very hard to get use to. this game certainly has some potential, lets see if it live up to it.

biggest ripoff of the wii balance board I've ever seen.
Could be good but I really doubt it...what is with that board-controller?
Do they actually expect you to do a REAL kick-flip for it to work on the game?

umm no offense to the dev but this game looks like another wake rip off to keep up wit the wii....
and idk wat they r trying to compete with the wii is a 1 time play system
u play it the 1st week u get it then u barely touch the thing agian...lol
this is going to be one of thoose games watch.
and also idk how they r going to use tht skateboard controller it doesnt make any sense to me. most people who play tony hawk games dont skate irl...
so ytf wud they skate on this game
if u cant really do the tricks on the board no point to the game at all
    stick to skate kiddies...

i agree with BonsaiMagpie it would be cool for hardcore gamers but its not good for casual gamers so it probly not going sell that good

i think crouching on a board ready to press buttons is going to put off a lot of hardocre gamers like myself (fatsos). but would be good for casual gamer, but since they are all wii-fit owners, who cares. This new perhipheral will be outdated after 3 or 4 games and will be a pure rip off.

Its definately going to be interesting how this turns out, its a great idea and offers something very different from Skate. But where it might be quite good it could easily turn out to be a load of rubbish.. so I'm going to reserve judgement on this until I've played it..

They needed something to revive the series, not only was the gameplay getting stale but Skate has taken over the the best in the genre.

    Looks pretty cool actually.
