2K Sports confirms day-one PS3 hoops, pucks

Publisher promises NHL 2K7 and NBA 2K7 will be available alongside Sony's new system November 17.

While Sony has been shy about etching its PlayStation 3 launch lineup in stone, publishers are being a little more definite about matters. Activision has confirmed retailer listings that Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Tony Hawk's Project 8 are shipping out this week. Today, 2K Sports announced another pair of games--NBA 2K7 and NHL 2K7--will show up on day one.

Both games will incorporate the PS3's motion-sensitive Sixaxis controller, with NBA 2K7 using it to shoot free throws and NHL 2K7 letting players throw checks and control their goalies with a flick of the wrist. Both games will also boast the same feature sets as their counterparts on other consoles, including online leagues with live fantasy drafts, tournament options, and more. In addition, NBA 2K7 will include 1080p support to take advantage of "full HD."

NHL 2K7 is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. NBA 2K7 is rated E for Everyone. Both games will retail for $59.99. For more on the games, check out GameSpot's hands-on impressions of the Sixaxis implementation in NBA 2K7 and NHL 2K7.

KingofTrolls, i know what your saying. EA is really bad for this, and when 2K came along they changed a lot, but now its back to the same minor updates every year.

I wonder how much Sony paid EA to put the "full HD" comment on there...

This sucks for NBA 07. Now they will truely be out selled by NBA 2k7. O well its the better game anyway. I'm waiting until the next years Basketball games comes out. Thats when the next gen sports will really start.

"In a few years, after HDTV has fully established itself, 1080p will be much more commonplace and TVs will cost significantly less. That's what all the fuss is about. You can come back to these games later on and they'll look even better than they do on a 720p screen today. "

Except we'll be on version 10 of those titles by then...and who honestly cares about old sports games?

"NBA 2K7 will include 1080p support to take advantage of "full HD." I think there are not many HDTVs that support 1080p, I don't see what all the fuzz is about. I'm not going to spend more money to get a HDTV that supports 1080p.

From the gameplay movies that I have seen, I have to say that NBA 2K7 sucks when compared to its counterpart NBA '07.

I so hope some day soon 2K will be able to make football games again. Plus NHL 07 looks good. NBA 07 not so much.

At least 2K Sports is making use of 1080p, unlike EA.
