PS Store updated with MLB 2K7 demo, more

2K's baseball game takes practice swings on PlayStation Store; videos for Home, Warhawk, Super Rub-A-Dub also up.

PlayStation 3 owners looking to step into the batters' box and take a few hacks before committing to a one-year, $60 contract with MLB 2K7 can now do so. The PlayStation Store, Sony's online marketplace for downloadable content, has been updated with a demo of the baseball game, as well as some new videos.

Sony didn't release details on the PS3 MLB 2K7 demo, except that it is free of charge. A demo of the Xbox 360 version was released in late February and featured a rematch of Game 7 of the 2006 National League Championship Series between the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals.

Gamers can now get an up-close look at one of Sony's biggest announcements of Game Developers Conference 2007, the real-time 3D community Home. Now available on the PS Store is a high-definition video detailing the service, which is due out later this year.

A pair of trailers for two entirely different games (save for the emphasis of Sixaxis tilt control) is also on the PS Store. Gamers can now catch a glimpse of Incognito's sci-fi shooter Warhawk, as well as the bathtub fun of Sony's Super Rub-A-Dub. Both games are expected to be available from the PS Store later this year.

Movie trailers from Paramount Pictures are also available for download, but Sony did not specify which titles.

I have enjoyed watching the PS Store grow. I got my PS3 on New Years Day, and it has come along nicely. A bit slowly perhaps, but I think they're bringing some good stuff.

It's been good to pick up some low cost (or no cost,) stuff to enjoy while waiting for better weather for outdoor pursuits. GranTurismo is still one of my favorite games on the PS3, and it's FREE!

Ok well here is the deal with Sony's store it's free unlike Microsoft's Xbox live. You pay Microsoft for their service so they are going to be much faster other wise you would have a whole lot of 360 owners **** like this. A free service is never going to be good as one you pay for. The online portion of PS3 games will follow the same guide lines unfortunately. I am the owner of a 360 and a PS3 now I will say at this point the 360 is much better but I think when Sony decides to get their head out of their ass they will come out on top.

Although I'm not a fan of America's favorite past-time I am at least glad to see the PS Store getting more content. What distrubs me is why the PS3 gets all these demos so late. Def Jam Icon was on Xbox Live weeks before the game was finished yet the PS3 gets a demo close the release of the actual game in stores. Same thing with Ridge Racer 7 (a launch title who'e demo just became available about three weeks ago) and that car battle game from Sega. Both of them available after the games are already out.

Also, it would be nice if Sony gave us PS3 owners some love with more exclusive video content. While Sony still struggles to keep exclusive games on the system they need to focus on what they can do andt that's provide downloadable content from the other divisions of Sony such as music and films. Take the Spider-Man 3 trailer for instance. The final trailer was exclusive to Comcast. I get that it was probably more profitable to have it go through Comcast but why not share the love with PS3 owners? For crying out loud, the freaking PS3 font was derived from the movie. One would think that they would do everything in their power to keep the relationship as tight as beans and rice.

I'm very happy with my PS3 but I could be happier. The shoe is going to drop soon and Home is a step in the right direction. It just seems like everything is taking longer than it should.

Sorry Euro gamers but I can't feel too sorry for you guys. Many of you got a 46" TV out of the deal. Considered us even.

Sony don't give a damn about Europe... we're stuck without the Store, while some of Europe and the rest of the world is having fun with the free demos and Sony still don't care... Sony has really disappointed me, and I'm really angry at Sony for being such f*cking a@@holes...

I hope that just as there will be more parity with the games being released on the PC, XBOX 360, and PlayStation 3, there will also be more parity in which demos get released and when. Hopefully that will mean not having demos released months apart on different systems, but I know that may be a difficult thing to do from a development perspective.

its a good thing i think cuz i wanna see how mlb is b4 i get it..tho i just realized this year that 2k sports games are way better than EA...except boxing...i would say football too but the madden version that has been so stripped down for the ps3 really made me want to see what the competition brings.
