EA Sports details Fight Night Round 4

E3 2009: Peter Moore takes to the stage at the EA press conference at E3 to provide more details on the upcoming Fight Night Round 4.

LOS ANGELES--Peter Moore, president of EA Sports, took to the stage at the EA conference at E3 today to announce the publisher's new lineup of sports titles.

Moore kicked things off by detailing the upcoming Fight Night Round 4, which will now ship on June 25. The game will feature improved graphics, gameplay at 60 frames per second (improved from Fight Night Round 3's 30 frames per second), more realistic blood, and sweat spray and fluid controls.

The game has been made on an improved physics engine that will be able to detect where an opponent's blows land, as well as utilize a fighter's height and reach. Players will also be able to make their fighters get up close and personal with each other, with no barrier for close-range combat.

The visual style of the game has also been improved since the last title, using a dynamics-driven system to give depth and variety to such things as muscle tone and flex, as well as a fighter's facial expressions.

Fight Night Round 4 will feature athletes Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson and is out June 25.

I hate it how they make you just use the analog sticks while fighting. In the previous fight night games you have the option of using the analog sticks or the buttons, while in the demo you could only use the analog sticks.

I hope they change that when it comes out.

bezza2011- the demo is a lot different than the actual game. There is a blog or forum post on the FNR4 website that explains why the demo was like that. It was basically really easy for beginners, and many things have been tweaked.

was waiting for this for ages since the last, but a big let down, the TPC is very unresponsive and like someone said if you make one miss judged touch then they will give a body punch. have you noticed in the demo that the health just seems to stay up very fast. same old game it's about time ea goes for the realism and get the stuff right. why not get all the back stage stuff in there and proper intro's and get rid of the stupid signature punch!!!! whats the point who comes up with these, has anyone ever seen ricky hatton twirl his hand round and then hit someone it aint even a hard hit and has anyone seen how slow the haymakers are. im a boxing fan and loved fight night but every year they bring out the same game just with tweak controls and graphics, UFC is a step forward in fighting sports it is time for EA to realise that we want more realism not just the mechanics but the whole world of boxing.

@jdog68 - You can probably switch the controls, unless they've announced otherwise.

EA has managed to F up another great franchise once again. First with the controls (taking away the button controls) and not to mention the unrealism. Way to go EA you just keep managing to turn more and more fans away by messing up these great games! I had it pre ordered Ill be cancelling that!

After playing the demo for the last few days I'd say it's a good game with the potential of being great, if they'd just add the option for button use for punches. The current TPC is a tad unresponsive and slow and even the slightest mishap on the stick can cause someone to do a bodyblow punch instead of an uppercut. I've got pretty good use TPC and can get a KO in 1 out of every 3 fights on the demo. But even so I can't stand how sluggish and unresponsive it feels. For those commenting on Project Natal being great for this game, keep your gimmicky BS out of my gaming.

I thought the slowmo punching was amusing - looked kind of like rubbing your glove on the other guy's face.

Why are all these people saying the demo sucks? I thought the demo is what it is........a demo, and rightfully pretty good. New total fight control with the right analog that is pretty intuitive. I think alot of the people who are dissing it are stuck in the days of atari boxing or "ring king" and are button-mashing tools who can't move on to the twenty-first century.
