    @IXIWhistIXI I never said it was. I was just comparing the two about how they are both similar compared to MMORPGs. WOW was the only MMORPG that I could think of atm. Of course it would look like FFXI because it is.

    at the moment i only play WOW as for MMO's go but if Square comes out with a game, i gotta play it. I cant wait to play a MMO on my PS3.

    How does this look like square enix's version of wow?

    This looks exactly like FFXI except with some weird vertical flying ships.
    Just because something is a mmorpg doesn't mean it's wow.

    In any event, I don't get why they're making a new online game set in what appears to be relatively the same universe as the last one, with character design that looks exactly the same as the last one and even includes the same ship battles as before on ships that look exactly the same as the last one...

    THey should have really changed the fantasy theme...

    Cant really tell much. Theres not gameplay in that video its all cinematics. Sometimes a a games cinematics are better that the game itself....So Im gonna wait for a game play video to come out before I judge.

    I've played bits and pieces of several MMO's over the past decade and I would have to say FFXI was by far my best/favorite online experience. It was all about the great community - secondly, just happened to be a good game too.
    So very excited about a sequel to complement the experience.

    awesome, final fantasy 11 online is fun, i have it for xbox 360 and this one is a sequel to it i need to re get a playstation 3 so i can check it when it comes out, because the release date is tba 2010 and it's kinda almost 2010!

    Unlike FFXI, I'm actually going to purchase this online FF! It looks amazing and the music (composed by the best, Nobuo Uematsu) is sheer genius and fits Final Fantasy's scenery and environment perfectly. I have high expectations for this title, and I just know the results are going to go beyond them ^^

    wow player here too, I have high hopes for ff, wows gettin old but the gameplays so good i keep going back for more...
    from the look of the trailer this new mmorpg looks class but will it play as well....god i hope so!

    I dont understand why SE is working on so many projects at once, doesnt make sense... Just put all your developers on one project to make it as perfect as possible and work on the next one. :-?

    Used to play FFXI back in the day...not only am I gonna play this but I'm gonna make up for quitong FFXI! It's SO going down! It's gonna be great!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^

    cant wait for this game i was a massive fan of ff11 online i quit tho once i did everything in the game. lv75 sam war thf dnc whm.

    @bibleboy93: I don't know where you people get that FFVII is actually being remade; if it does get remade, i'll be first on board, but nothing of this has been mentioned and they definitely haven't started working on the game if they actually do intend to remake it.

    yes, every mmo does nowadays, directly or indirectly. This'll be an anniversary fee, in which you pay for every 30 days you play a fee of probably about $12, so about a $120-$140 a year which isn't too bad considering what you're getting.

    @Chester Diamond i cnt w8 either for those or FFVII coming to ps3 w/ graphics from AC same storyline WAAAAAYYYYY beter graphics its gonna be a great FF i wonder if theyll do it for FFVIII and FFIX?

    @D-47: lol maybe in your opinion the FF series is going downhill but its been excelling more and more with every new title, nothing of what they've created over the past decade has enticed you one bit? I mean maybe if you're that picky about your games, maybe its because you've outgrown them...or perhaps they have outgrown you?

    This is a lie...plenty times I have quit FFXI (cancelling content ID) and have come back months later (creating new content ID) and my character would still be there and they have never charged me for "months of inactivity". Obviously if you're not cancelling content ID that means you are still active and should be charged. Anyway, there's a lot of things they should fix from FFXI to make FFXIV better but there's also plenty of stuff they need to keep (to some degree) because FFXI was a hell of a game in its own right.

    it will probably be a X-Platform as well, for PC/PS3/XboX360

    It looks like final fantasy through and through, with stunning views an all. Hope they show some gameplay soon. This is a DEFINATE MUST HAVEEE im definatly gonna be keepin my eye on this 1 for any new news

    Oh yeah, BUT FFXIV CANNOT make the same mistakes as FFXI, those being: 1. Charging an EXTRA monthly fee for every new character you make.
    2. Delete your characters after however many months of inactivity.
    3. Force you to pay subscription for past months of inactivity if you want to start playing again.

    WoW charged a fair amount per month but other than that subscription fee's is one thing Blizzard got perfect.

    Great timing. The only people who play WoW now are the Saddo's with nothing better to do, and even they're getting bored of it. I also can't see any point in playing WoW now as a new player, where would you start? If anyone's going to get into a MMPORG now, it's going to be this.

    godoo I'm pretty sure if blizzard were as cynical as people like to make them seem, they saw this and laughed.

    So far from what I've seen the game looks like FFXI with updated graphics. I'm sure there's plenty of new features, but if they made it heavily based off of XI it's going to be another very slow game, which is not a bad thing, however it's not the most popular approach for a mmo.

    I guarantee this will make as much of an impact on wow as warhammer did. Nothing noticeable.

    Redness19, the reason you can't solo things when you get a high enough lvl is because the game is community based. It wants you to play with other people.
