Gran Turismo drives into Top Gear

BBC motoring show to be downloadable via PlayStation Network; test track set to appear in the game.

Petrol-heads rejoice; Sony has today announced a deal between itself, Polyphony Digital, and BBC Worldwide that will see the Top Gear test track featured within Gran Turismo 5. Episodes of the popular TV show will also be downloadable via Gran Turismo TV on the PlayStation Network.

Forty episodes of the show, presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, will be available to download via Gran Turismo TV, which will launch on the PlayStation Network in 2008. The show's test track at Dunsfold Park--used to test cars to their limit, and also to let celebrities try out their driving skills in the "Star in a reasonably priced car" segment--will also be available within the PlayStation 3 game.

Polyphony Digital's president, Kazunori Yamauchi, said, "We're sure that players will be as thrilled as we are when they get the chance to put their own driving skills to the test on the Top Gear Test Track in GT5, as well as enjoying classic episodes of Top Gear via GT TV."

Gran Turismo 5 is scheduled for release for the PlayStation 3 in 2008.

    well this might be the final straw, I've been waiting to buy a ps3, and this might make me buy one, that and blu ray movies. - oh and top gear is only the second best auto program, best motoring from japan is the best (and ps3 already shows them), they use more data than just a test track to gauge their cars. Jeremy Clarkson likes to be OPENLY biased about cars that he doesn't like; whether or not they deserve it.

    this is the best news yet that gt5 will feature the top gear track well done to sony for including this,lets hope we will be able to get our hands on the bugatti veyron for gt5 now that would be amazing...

    For those of you who can't wait for Top Gear to come to the PS3, there's a website for TG fans, Finalgear. Not sure what posting another web address will get me, so just google it.

    when i had BBC, i watch everyday, but here in Brazil, i don't have anymore... but this show are one of the best in tv.....

    I'm a HUGE Top Gear fan. I especially like Jeremy Clarkson, even thoguh he despises american cars, lol. It's the best auto show on televisioon, and unfortunate that us in the U.S. will have to get a bastardized version that will suck balls.

    hell yeah top gear is popular outside the UK. In canada we all download the episodes of the internet. Im still waiting for the next series to come out.

    I'm like seriously floored after reading this (was wondering if either Polyphony or Turn 10 would of been smart enough to tap the Top Gear name)... Hopefully they put in a Suzuki Liana or that stupid Chevy/Daewoo thing in the car line-up relive the 'Star in a reasonably priced car at home..." Or better yet, the ulitimate pipe dream... utilize the Dunsfold track for the License tests while virtual Jezza/Hamster rip on everybody for messing up... but that's just a pipe-dream...we all get to run the test track...yeah!!!

    5th gear sux so much cnt believe you said that.the presenters of 5th gear are poor and everything seems to be acted out and the stig rules tiff like he was his daddy!!!!!

    but i must say gt5 is shapeing up to be amaizing and hopefully stop the ps3 being the brunt of all jokes when gt5 comes out sony will rule supreame and my £425 will not fell like a waste

    Really looking forward to Gran Turismo 5 and Top Gear Content. I haven't played my PS3 much, but when this game is released suddenly the PS3 will have been money well spent.

    Congratulations Sony, you have just sold a console to me with this news. Forza 2, in my opinion, was a huge let down. Graphics were downright horrible, career mode was exact same as the original Forza, not enough tracks, alot of the car choices made no sense (2 of the same car, seriously?!), and NO IN CAR VIEW!!!! GT5 has in-car view, ability to use my Logitech G25, AND THE TOP GEAR TEST TRACK!!!! Sold.

    @ HAAS599 : yes u are right that Top Gear is an amazing show......but u got something wrong......that Ducati vs Gallardo is a 5th Gear production !

    Jeremy Clarkson doesn't likes bikes.....so no bikes in Top Gear.....
    But yes 5th gear is also a nice program.....anything that shows stuff related to cars/bikes is accepted !
