Penny Arcade Adventures to PSN Oct. 23

First episode of Hothead Games' webcomic collaboration journeys to Sony's online platform this Thursday for $15.

This week sees Sony's PlayStation 3 playing catch-up on a number of games previously released on other platforms. MTV Games' Rock Band 2, which has been out for the Xbox 360 since September, began touring on the PS3 this Sunday. That release was joined by Take-Two and Namco Bandai's respective first-person shooter and role-playing game hits from 2007, BioShock and Eternal Sonata.

One more latecomer will be joining the pack this week. Hothead Games said today that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness - Episode One will arrive on the PlayStation Network this Thursday, October 23. A number of features included with the PS3's v.2.40 firmware update will be represented in the game, including trophies and background-music support.

As a measure of consolation for the game's belated arrival, Hothead said that Episode One can be downloaded for $14.99, $5 cheaper than its Xbox Live, PC, Mac, and Linux counterparts when they were released in May. The Vancouver-based developer also noted that the desktop versions of the game distributed through Play Green House will see a similar price reduction.

In a statement, Hothead president and CEO Vlad Ceraldi urged "other platforms and digital distribution services" to follow suit with the new pricing. Microsoft had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Earlier this month, Hothead revealed that development had been completed on the Xbox 360, PC, Mac, and Linux versions of PAA: Episode Two, with the release penciled in for later this fall. The PS3 edition of the game is expected to trail other versions of the game, but Hothead said today that it will arrive before December 25. The second episode of the webcomic-inspired adventure game will sell for $14.99 (1,200 Microsoft points).

    Eh. I don't really get their humour, and the reasons expressed already by other posters... yeah. Not going to pick this up. Even if it's Canadian deved.

    Well now I'm glad I procrastinated on this game, now I can get it on my favorite console and for less! Fantastic.

    Doesn't seem like a buy for myself either, but glad that it's more content for the PSN. And at least it is 5 dollars less for those who do end up getting it.

    sdkingsht: you have to make the same argument twice? why do you hate this so much? i'd get PAA if i didn't already play it on PC, although i do have rock band 2 with little big planet coming next week.

    It's great to hear about this. PAA will fill the small void while I wait for LBP and Guitar Hero World Tour to arrive.

    far cry 2, dead space, socom, fallout 3, little big planet, motorstorm 2, valkyria chronicles, mirror's edge...just thought i'd name a few other reasons NOT to waste my energy drink and cheetos money on this garbage @$$ game.

    Does anyone have any games with trophy support? And for that matter, no games I know of support your own music in it. So I'm still waiting for that first...

    you want me to pay $15 for this crap with all the other games coming out right now that are actually good? (midnight club, bioshock, resistance 2, nfs uncercover, etc)...i'd rather buy the new Monopoly than this crap. not to mention they bashed the PS3 now want our money cause no one else bought this piece of $#!t game? yeah right.

    Let's see; Penny Arcade endlessly bashes the PS3, then releases a late-to-market game already on other platforms for the same (most would say inflated) price and they expect me to buy it? Keep dreaming, guys.

    At least you and 3 friends could put down $5 each and play it, if this is your thing. That MAY be why they released it later. I'm guessing the real reason would be its disappointing reception/sales.
