Quantic Dream working on PS3 exclusive

The developer of The Indigo Prophecy and Omikron: The Nomad Soul teams up with Sony to work on next-gen title.

French developer Quantic Dream is working on a top-secret PlayStation 3-exclusive title, the company has revealed. Other than that, the company and collaborator Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios aren't saying much.

To date, the 10-year-old developer has released two games. The Nomad Soul (Omikron in the US) was the company's first title, published by Eidos Interactive and set in the futuristic city of Omikron. The ambitious game put players in control of a protagonist who could switch bodies at will to gain access to certain areas and avoid capture. David Bowie had a virtual character in the game, and music from his album Hours was featured in the soundtrack. It starts with a detective investigating a serial killer, but he quickly realises that something even more sinister is at work.

In 2005, Fahrenheit (The Indigo Prophecy in the US) became Quantic Dream's second release. The adventure game starred a brilliant young police detective investigating a series of brutal murders with her partner. Meanwhile, a third character investigates his growing suspicion that he is in fact the murderer.

The developer's founder, president, and CEO, David Cage, commented on the new title, "We always believed that 'next generation' meant more meaningful content based on players' emotional involvement. To us, PS3 is the only platform that can truly deliver on this promise."

Previously, the company had been confirmed as developing Omikron 2 for next-gen consoles. It also has been working on another next-gen title, which was shown at Sony's Electronic Entertainment Expo booth last year under the name Heavy Rain.

David Cage is one brilliant guy and he knows what he is talking about "we always believed that 'next generation' meant more meaningful content based on players' emotional involvement. To us,PS3 is the only platform that can truly deliver on this promise" and what he says is completely and 100% true!

how come we have not hurd anything new about Heavy Rain, it has bin in developement for sometime now has it not? I was hoping to see it at E3. I still think playstation console has not bin completely used yet to it's full working power. I just think it takes alot of developing cost to get software on that console. developers don't really care they just go where the people go or the money.

That is why they invented the XBOX 360 ELIETE. And everybody don't believe that they are going to create the sequal to the Indigo Prophecy game it aint going to happen. There is no continuation to the previous adventures of Lucas Kane. They credics said that you have to suggest something yourself.

I'm just hoping we get to see Omikron 2. I have a 360, so whatever they come out with for Playstation won't affect me.

Phoenix2Raven I understand what you're saying but not anybody is so well informed, I had a friend who bought a xbox 360 only to find out all the features were missing like the HD-DVD and support for that super high def reso thing. It's probably all his fault for not looking this stuff up but when it comes down to it once you've bought it and didn't get what you expected it's kind of annoying y'know? I'm planning on buying a PS3 myself though.

But this entirely nullifies the purpose of choice. The 360 is for the smart consumer, who is intelligent enough to realize that maybe he doesn't need all those features and doesn't want to pay for something he doesn't need. ---------- exactly. finally someone that makes some sense. what do i care if all the optional stuff adds up to a total more than the other system if i dont need or plan to buy those optional add ons cause i never wanted them. those price comparisons that makes like no sense. if people got the 360 than they got what they wanted and if people got the ps3 then they got what they wanted. u cannot compare the 2 prices when u hear people complaining about the price cause most likely those people know what they need and dont need and have already thought about it since they were complaining about price i dont think they gonna go out and pay even more by getting the options. n most likely they dont have hd or hdmi compatable tvs cause the adoption rate of hd tvs is really low like 10% in usa. cause dvds work just fine. anyway about the article i hope that the game comes out and that it exeeds the past work. cause they were good games. but then i like adventure games.

With the PS3's power I think they can make a game 5 times better than indigo prophecy.

I think this will be "the one", the one we have all been waiting for. These may be people that will fully take advantage of the PS3's power.

@ TTDog: No offense, but you obviously don't own a PS3, so don't stress out about defining your points on a PS3 news article. I own both systems and I would kick myself if I missed out on any quality exclusives. Many great games are in the queue for both systems and obviously gamers are going to be excited about them. It does justify a system purchase whether they're out or not. I bought my 360 on launch and only own 4 games on it. Most of what I'm looking for, isn't out yet. Doesn't mean the system isn't worth every penny.

Indigo Prophecy is a bargain bin game at best. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Good for MS for not doing business with this company. The game was a like playing a semi-interactive cartoon. By the time I was done, I felt like the game played me, instead of me playing the game. The PS3 still needs another top tier exclusive outside of MGS and FF or it's cooked. This is coming from a guy who owns neither a 360 or PS3. I will get a 360 as soon as Mass Effect releases though. Thankfully the 360 is starting to diversify outside of FPS or I wouldn't be purchasing it.
