this game is just awesome, though 6/10 is kinda low for this game, i give it a solid 8!

The video review sounds like a 7-7.5. Most likely he took some points to match better metacritic since other sites were more harsh.
The game deliver what sets what to do, a great looking beat em up on the watchmen universe.
Only thing is that is too expensive, nonetheless fun.

They should have put an online mode, it would have been nice to play a fighting game as a co-op instead of versus. In co-op, it doesn't matter how good the other player is and well he know the game. In versus, you can get beat-up real bad if you play enough with the game (like Soul Calibur 4 for example). Beside the lack of online mode this game is great but the Batman like character don't pick up ANY weapon and his finishing moves are less impressive than the other guy with the white mask

if you play this on pc, graphics look MUCH better than in the video review which is taken from console footage. The game is kinda repetitive but very well done as a beat'em up game. Graphics are stunning, really good.

just a fanboy comment. Rorshach didn't adopt that voice until around 1975. if this is set in 1972 he should use his normal voice, not the monotonous one and in 1972 he wasn't in the state of mind to kill yet. sorry just saying what bugged me.

These comments of the reviewer sound so very lame. GS used to be about game reviews and if you think that this sponsored double talk was good because of the delivery, you proved my point that GS has lost sight of credible reviews and reviewers. This is what happens IMHO when GS was edged into change..."sponsor driven change" $$$ ...you guys need to get back to the table and return to the proven HQ reviews you used to lead by. GS has become the TURNING POINT of review sites, mostly hype and poor results.

Chris Watters is hot. Great review. Plainly states that the game is NOT deep, but enjoyable if you like "beat 'em ups". I would love to see more reviews like this. Thanks...cutie!

WTF? This is my first comment on GS ever and I'm thinking that it might also be my last. They didn't video review Empire Total War but they video reviewed this piece of sh*t. If I wanted to see a 5 minutes commercial I would turn on the TV. The grade GS gives is all right but doesn't coincide to the 4 and half minute praising and only half a minute downgrading which this game gets. Why is it only the movie titles (everybody knows that it always pays better not to do a good game based on a movie title because it will sell anyways, cost-benefit so why review?) and the companies spending big box on advertising on the site that gets the video reviews?

What happened GS you used to be cool??

This review is a prime example of why Gamespot in my opinion is slipping with their ability to deliver a review that qualifies as a review at all. Hitting the same buttons for the same punch fest, or not to emphasize that it is linear and very repetitive, well understates the game play for this type of game. I am not knocking the game, we all like different genres of games, but when these reviewers knock other games because it doesn't live up to there design or storyline expectations and then give a thumbs up without actually being unbiased in their review delivery makes me think there is a sponsor pulling the puppets string.

I agree with Zdorab, CW did a great job with this review. His voice is just so perfectly soothing, his tone and delivery makes you want to buy the game just to bring back memories of Chris talking about it. This dude needs a fanclub, pronto.

I rarely sign in, and hardly ever leave comments, but this review was so good I felt I had to.

This is the first review I've seen Chris Watters do, and it is hands down one of the best I've seen in MONTHS on Gamespot, if not ever.
Lets see this guy review some high profile games! If Gamespot had more reviewers like Chris, I guarantee you'll see a lot more traffic to your site...

I don't have a dual core cpu. I have an AMD FX 57 single core cpu which is fast. Will this be fast enough to run the game?

The requirements state a dual core 64 bit 1.8 GZ cpu? Is this true? I have dual geforce 9800 video cards (sli). The system requirement for the CPU seems a bit steep....

What CPU's are people running this on?

    Thnx.....

Absolutely bang-on accurate review. I've never seen a Chris Watters review before, but I like his work already. He's the only reviewer I've ever seen on Gamespot who seems to care more about giving a _fair impression of the game to buyers_, than he does about sounding uber-clever, sarcastic, or smarter than the "mere peasants" in the audience. Nice to find a real reviewer on Gamespot. Good job, Mr. Watters!

Combat looks to be a tad too slow.

    Graphics and lighting are beautiful.

And animation seems to be top-notch!

Ehh, still debating if I should give this one a go. Great review, though!

  • Spider-Jim

    Posted Mar 10, 2009 6:07 pm PT

He didn't say it didn't have the "darkness " he said it didn't have the "complexity'. It's a VERY adult comic and I'm not just talking about sex and violence.

Good review Chris Watters kudos to you.

I think making a simple beat em up was a smart move by the developer , anything else would have been an insult to both the creators and the fans.
    I will play this game.

  • Lord_Pisces

    Posted Mar 10, 2009 5:40 pm PT

VERY well done review. Though I disagree when he said this game doesn't have the darkness of the comic. With Rorschach's pessimistic narrative, thugs dropping the F-Bomb left and right, and of course, Rorschach's takedowns, this game is QUITE dark.

Chris is a well established reviewer, and they are very enjoyable. I still have no interest in this game, but nice review.
