THQ wrestles with next-gen consoles

Wrestlemania 22 takes place this Sunday in Chicago, but one hard hit has already been delivered. THQ announced today that the WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW wrestling series is returning to the ring, and it will take on new competition in the form of next-generation consoles. Scheduled for release this fall, WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 will appear on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.

The latest grappler from developer Yuke's takes the fight into new territory by letting wrestlers suplex to their heart's content among the fans in designated areas. Gamers will be able to use objects in the crowd and around the ring to beat on foes. Players can also look forward to an enhanced season mode and new high-impact combos.

    THE PS2 isn't Newer than XBOX so why couldn't it be for XBOX

    ... what the rock... is baking. Hopefully, they add on a Playboy Pillow Fight. That was the best match ever in the history of wrestlemania. NOT. They shoulda just got it on in the middle of the ring. That woulda been 1 billion times better.

    Why cant they bring back the old n64 control days. I never enjoyed the smackdown controls. All they gotta go is bring back the control scheme of westlemania 2000 for the n64 and it would be amazing.

    This is refreshing news totally.

    The RAW series was horrible on the Xbox.

    Jharper is right, its a work in progress, you make fun of it for having a "stupid sweat addition" but give madden a creat-a-fan and its golden forget you guys.

    The wrestelers don't move around smoothly, it hardly looks realistic.

    no wretling game till this day can compare with n64 ones(or come close)
    smack down is own of the worst wrestling games after x boxs ones(imo)
    i more looking forward to day of reckoning cause the gameplay on that is always 8 steps ahead then smack down and also ever year it is a diffrents then last years one.

    i couldnt decide whether 2 buy an xbox 360 because of halo or a ps3 because of smackdown vs raw because those are my 2 favorite games but now im definately getting an xbox 360 (please dont start a system war fanboys lol)

    it was looking ok until the in game started looked like they was floating on air when they moved, and collision detection was awful. i hate to say it but im still not taken with wrestling games.

    IT said it's coming out on all the new consoles
    360,PS2,PS3,PSP also.
