A couple weeks ago, we posted our first new look at The Saboteur since the game was first shown back in 2007. In this free-roaming WWII game, you play as Sean Devlin, an Irish race car driver on a vengeance quest to sabotage the Nazi stranglehold on Paris. Last week we had the chance to chat with lead designer Tom French about the game.

You'll want to take a look at the video above because Tom's got quite a few interesting things to say about his project, including some of the locations you'll visit aside from Paris, how they built the city, and the inspiration behind Sean's story. As for what we saw, there was a promising amount of character to the game. Cruising around the city in Sean's racecar leading up to the mission, there was a nice ambience around us, and the way color collides with black and white looks really nice in motion. With any luck, the final game will focus more on the city, its characters, and making you feel like a part of the underground resistance rather than gunning it out at full force. We're quite eager to see more of it, which should happen right around the corner at E3.

Looks good, but I'm not going to speculate. Show me some gameplay and we'll see. Of late, sandbox style games have not been good to our friends at Pandemic.

The decision to go with the Sin City style graphics is a mistake. Not only has it been done, it was simply never that effect in its first envisioning. While it may place emphasis where needed in key instances, overall it exudes pedantic styling. Strong action sequences could save the overall game, assuming it isn't simply Splinter Cell with an Alfo Romeo

@ Pavski Yeah, I remember Discworld Noir (i liked it the most out of the 3 Discworld games that were made. though in terms of graphics I prefered the hand-drawn 2D style of the first 2 as opposed to the 3D style used in Discworld Noir), one of the best adventure game I've played and with an original setting (though given the great quality of the Discworld novels written by Terry Pratchett, the quality of any Discworld games would have to be above average).
This game by Pandemic indeed looks promising, though when I first read the title I thought someone had finally thought to attempt a remake of one of my favorite Spectrum games, "Saboteur" made by Durell Software (man, that one kept me up many a night). I consider it to be somewhat one of the "forefathers" of the stealth genre and I would really love to see a remake of the game with current technology. Oh well, guess this will have to do for now.

    Down with the Nazi!
I like the originality. Seems to me like a Tomb Raider sort of thing.
Anyone remember Discworld Noir? The game atmosphere reminds me of that. I like it

Looks good, i like the Sin City black and white thing where it adds colour to curtain things.
Hope there will be a demo.
