The reviewer is totally without a personality , with an annoing voice.Dunno what was worse , the shown gameplay or the monotonious babling.Cmon why only mention the bad things about the game , it has its good side you know.To mention only the worst parts of the game is pretty lame you know. One of the worst reviewers i've seen at gamespot. So just stick to the review writing , not the videos.
Its my own opinion , nothing more nothing less.

mr reviewer this is war and in war the only thing you do is kill what do you want more, boring is the games that you guys give scores of 9.0 and the game is finished in less than six hours, this game is all about gundams and hours and hours of gameplay, and for having stike freedom infinite justice and destiny as playable gundams this game gets a 10

I thought this game was fun but it wasnt anything groundbreaking. It is sad how one of the best anime series ever and action series cant get a really good game. I think that if Bandai were to make a original story with Anime cartoon cut scenes and nice anime stylized graphix like the ones on BlazBlue or heck give it a cool metalic look with life. Like the transformer movies. And then give it solid game play with multiple gundam choices but only like 5 and varied mission for each. I also think that third person or first person is good. If it is a third person they need to make sure it isnt a button smasher or a hakc and slash they need to give it a realistic feel. I mean you cant have a 40 ton robot jumping around like Dante from DMC4. I think something like that could shape up to be a great gundam game.

this isnt that bad of a game...its the perfect game to play in between major releases...you can sink many hours of game play into it in small doses the story is short and not even necessary to play and even tho the controls and combat are simple and mindless its easy to pick up and play so even tho its not the next big game its great filler to play while i wait for the next hit game to come out

Why does the burden of "proving" one's opinion always fall on the people who don't enjoy DW games? Why are the ones who don't enjoy the games called stupid and horribly biased? Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

it's funny how games that are even more repetitive and boring get such good reviews while critics are always picking on the warrior series

    example burn out paradise

i played this for about 2 hours and it was quite fun playing 2 player with a friend, and the duel modes are pretty funny running around with low hp and using stupid "trash mob" mobile suit like a stupid testical looking ball.
playing hard mode added alot of fun into it also as u have to play with a lil bit more skill then just chop chop.
if u and a friend are looking to kill some hours mindlessly there is a game in here, but if ur looking for something with story, buy something elce for the money.

on another note, my friend played 1 ranked game online, and won and hes now 230th best in the world on the leaderboard rofl!

I can't believe how many hours of time the developers expect you to give up for this game when you are doing the exact same thing over again, and it's unforgivable you aren't even rewarded for that time with achievements--and I mean absolutely none at all--let alone enjoying the spare hours it requires. Well that's Koei for you, the best at ruining great various series.

Get the guys who made the first 2 Kingdom under Fire games to make a Gundam based Action/RTS game then I'll be interested...

I just wanted to add that I've always enjoyed the idea of the guys who make the dynasty warrior games. And the first one I played in the ps2 was entertaining for awhile. I like being put into an RTS as sort of the soldier instead of the commander and being on the battle ground with hundreds of units... but I like being put into in a game with hundreds of units FIGHTING. Running around beating on punching bags in a gundam is hardly worth 60 bucks out of MY pocket. But I can see how people enjoy this game.

Good review, you got a DW game down to a tee.

These types of games are very anti-reviewer because they are under time constraints to play through and review games by or soon after release dates. As Mr. VanOrd says in his review, this game does become incredibly tedious after an hour or so, but that's why this is a long term purchase.

The game has huge amounts of content, and is extremely fun for that hour. If you were to play this game for an hour every day, you'd love the game. It's a fundamental flaw in the review system. I appreciate the Dynasty Warriors games for what they are and enjoy popping them in for an hour or two every week or so.

As a result, it's pretty fair to say that ignoring review scores for games like this has become something that is the norm for me rather than the exception. I understand why the reviewers hate this game, but for someone like me who doesn't have the urgency to play through it, it's a fun, leisurely experience that I greatly enjoy. No masterpiece, perhaps, but a lot of fun nonetheless, even moreso with friends.

  • MasterOfSprites

Silly-smy, most people won't read written arguments longer than two paragraphs.

  • silly-smy

    Posted May 3, 2009 3:07 am PT

People really make terrible arguments based on weak logic. Just because a game isn't to their personal taste, they try to make it sound like it's some universally known and accepted truth that it's bad and generally disliked. These people often like to throw in overused words like "fanboy" or "button mashing."

Don't most racing games have you holding down the "gas" button all the time? That's pretty much all you do. Boo, all racing games must suck. Don't first-person shooters have you click that same damn left mouse button over and over? Boo, all FPS games must suck. You can play an entire game of StarCraft with nothing but your left mouse button, literally. Yeah, we all remember SC as the most repetitive game everrrr, amirite?

I must have clicked my left mouse button at least a few billion times just from playing CounterStrike alone. With that kind of "repetitive boring gameplay" it must score a 4 or less, that's a no brainer right? Some of the logic behind these arguments to bash games not deemed worthy based on personal, subjective standards make me laugh.

And saying this or any other DW games suck because none of the enemies ever attack is like saying a fighting game sucks after playing it through solo on the lowest difficulty setting. The CPU opponents just stand there all day, the game sucks! If you are not playing a game the way it's meant to be enjoyable, then chances are, it ain't gonna be. You're a moron if you think Street Fighter sucks because a difficulty-1 CPU-controlled Sagat let you jab him to death every single time.

No one is saying this or any other DW game should score a 10, or even close. But for those who enjoy hack-n-slash, especially beat-'em-up, co-op no less, a 4 is a somewhat misleading and confusing score since that's exactly what those DW games offer. Any hack-n-slash game will have at least some repetition by the very nature of what make it hack-n-slash, even more so for beat-'em-ups. Why is that so hard to understand? Blaming a game for being what it is, when it just is that type of game inherently, is stupid.

Since games are products, game reviews are essentially product reviews. Any review then, should be plentiful in useful objective information that can help the readers come to a purchase decision on their own, instead of using different ways to repeatedly say "i don't like it, i don't like it, i don't like it, it sucks, it sucks, it sucks."

DW games aside, anyone checking out a BEAT-'EM-UP will already be well aware of a somewhat repetitive type of gameplay. Instead of repeating what's obvious and deciding for them that they won't like this game, why not offer more useful, actual info that and let them decide for themselves?

It's not so much the actual score that's the problem with this review, it is quite frankly, just a bad review. If this game was a car, anyone watching this review, even those who started out with an interest knowing well that it's a Hyundai, would only walk away having been told "you're just not gonna like it, period." What kind of a product review is that?

button smashing is good or bad?

button smashing is a gameplay, why want to reduce the score because of it?

  • Sokol4ever

    Posted Apr 30, 2009 5:58 am PT

From the review I can believe stuff like that is still being pushed out, especially for a license. Seriously, the enemy was all just standing there doing nothing... Even that Bikini Zombie Slayer game looks better.

Gundam fans will rejoice, if it's better than GW1 which surprisingly was more challenging with officers and more intense quick action then maybe a buy but a solid rent plus it probably has trophies s well.

  • Ares360

    Posted Apr 25, 2009 12:42 pm PT

I'm a big fan of DW but they really need to expand from PS2 success to broader more challenging and actually half brained AI would be a serious improvement. Koei should give up on the dying series for all other consoles except PS2 where it shines.
