God of War III Impressions

Sony showed off the first live demo of God of War III at E3 2009, and we salivated at the prospect of this excessively violent adventure.

God of War III is a title that will sit atop most PlayStation owners' wish lists, and judging from the latest footage of the game at E3 2009, their prayers will be answered. That said, Sony did say that this will be the "final chapter" of this particular story, as it will finally end the battle between the gods Zeus and Kratos.

Sony introduced the developers from Santa Monica to demo the game live onstage. The menu screen melted away seamlessly to show the main game itself, allowing them to get straight into the action. With winged beasts on fire and soldiers fleeing for their lives, it's clear that something's wrong, but players of previous games will know that that's usually Kratos' cue to go check it out.

We got to see Kratos do a massive number of highly entertaining things during the demo. First off, he fired a bow and arrow with ammunition that was on fire. He then used flying beasts to transport across chasms, beating them up and then ripping their heads off at the end. He also cut open the belly of a huge centaur using the series' quick-time event system. But the most amusing death was when he broke off the horn of a Chimera and slammed it into its own head to kill it.

We've got loads more to say about God of War III, but with the game playable on the show floor, we'll give you our hands-on impressions soon. In the meantime, mark March 2010 in your diary for the final release of the game.

    I have a feeling they been hiding Hercules for this one (Since he is your Brother afterall) cant wait. Lol Kronus is your Grandad and Hades is your Uncle, Etc.

    Never played GOW 1 or 2. I heard they were great, and they look amazing too. I better go and rent them...

    From what I've heard, these "mini games" you speak of, are supposed to be even raunchier than the last two.
    due to the... *ahem*.... Graphical qualities of the PS3. =]

    Heheh, for the HD graphics, let hope they are detailed & longer mini games in this last of the trilogy, THE FANS HAVE SPOKEN, GIVE US WHAT WE WANT NOW!!!!!

    I'm glad to see that God of War is still Playstation exclusive,2010 will be PS3,PSP and Sony Year!!!

    Looks great but I'm hoping it's not too short. Also, it would be nice if they had some DLC coming down the pipe a few months after release.

    I've watched live the E3 and GOW3 is awesome, perfect, amazing and everything that WE NEED. I can't wait... please Sony finishes it fast(fast but in excelent condition).

    damn, i can finally comment shyt, lol. anyways, so yeah, GoW3 looks amazing. tha first two were awsome. attacks, weapons, enemys, puzzles, all were good. remember tha puzzle where you had to put tha body throught that river tunnel to get to tha other side in tha 2nd one? yeah, that one was tricky, lol. tha only thing i dont get is why it's taking 3 games to kill zeus, lol. i thought for sure he'd kill zeus in the 2nd one, but c'mon, tha games a masterpiece, they gotta keep these going. so yeah. oh and im pretty knew to gamespot, so add me, i like to post my own comments about things, so hit me up. =).
