E3 2008: God of War III E3 Conference Impressions

Sony confirmed that Kratos is coming to PlayStation 3, and teased us with a short trailer of the game.

God of War fans have long hoped that the series would come to the PlayStation 3, and this year Sony finally confirmed it was going to happen. Details remain scarce, and the trailer didn't show any in-game footage, but it's likely that the announcement alone will be enough for salivating fans.

The trailer itself showed a dark and rainy Greek landscape, with the voice-over explaining how the walls of Olympus have been breached. Predictably, it's down to Kratos to save the day, and as our antihero is introduced the voice-over continues to explain how Kratos "must suffer in the end." The extremely short trailer finished with Kratos standing atop a hill, the camera holding his gaze.

The trailer was unfortunately all prerendered footage, but it was pretty impressive nonetheless. Jack Tretton introduced the game merely as "God of War III," and said that it would be released "beyond this holiday season." If we hear any more details during the E3 conference, we'll be sure to let you know.

    Okay all you 360 fans out there WAKE UP god of war 3 will never come to the 360 okay. 360 has plenty that PS3 doesn't have gears of war halo all that crap. The PS3 will BE THE ONLY ONE WITH GOD OF WAR 3

    GOW 3 can never be universal, its impossible. The graphics engine has 4 times the resolution as that of the the modded unreal 3.0 engine used to make gear of war 2, that says it all really. Only the Cell processor can do this kind of number crunching, even the 360 cant process this game let alone the others. A version should have been made for the ps2 though, its only fair, and people should not knock the ps2 as its legendary.

    Cant Frkn wait there taking so long to anNounce the release date just making ppl crazy haha but this game is gonna be AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!AGAIN!!!!

    This will be game of the year, 09!! im hoping for some inovative combat, and puzzles. Also lots of new weapons, varied enemies and bosses more button press creativity. Basically more of everything Oh and online would be icing to the cake.

    yeah this game will be the be all and end all of brutal action/adventure/puzzle, story based, epic games, the first 2 alone a better than alot of games out now, i mean sword of heaven and conan did pretty good jobs at ripping it off but the gow franchise is the best ever, ever. nuff said

    i can't "f"ing wait!!!!! it will kick ass and those who r complaining about it not being universal and not being on the ps3....... GET ONE IF YOU WANT THIS GAME SO BADLY! and abou sony and microsoft combinding, i don't think that will ever happen but i wish that you can play online against other systems on universal games. but that is besides the point, this game will RULE ALL OTHERS! (except resistance 2 that kicks ass as well)

    mmm I haven't played any God of War game but my friends have recommended me. It's like DMC but with lota more of gore. Well, I hope a demo could be released.

    if it lives up to the hype....it'll do the same for the PS3 as METAL GEAR SOILD 4 did :-) I ...CANT..... FREAKING........WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I can not wait for this game to come out. I've been waiting for this day for a very long time and I can't wait to have it in my hands atlast.

    why make god of war 3 for ps2 alienking? On ps3 it will have way better graphics and if they try to port it on the ps2 its gona be crap anyway =P

    i think if they actually make gow III for ps3 the gow game ratings might go down cuz not everyone can afford a ps3 because i think almost everyone has a ps2 cuz they cant afford a ps3 so if gow III goes on ps3 and not ps2 they wont be making anymore money and stuff so thats why they should just put it on the ps2 too.
