Edge of Reality announces new PS3, 360 IP

Austin-based Edge of Reality Games, maker of the console version of The Sims, today announced it is stepping in a new direction. The independent studio is self-funding its latest project, a new intellectual property named Cipher Complex. The developer plans to ship the game in 2007 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Details are very slim on the project, which is very appropriate given what has been revealed about the game. In Cipher Complex, US government officials respond to a downed recon satellite by calling in the mysterious John Cipher, a secret operative.

"The evolution of action games has seemed to plateau, perhaps because of the emphasis on sequels," said president of Edge of Reality Binu Philip. "We are exploring and developing brand-new styles of gameplay and methods of storytelling. The concept and mechanics of Cipher Complex have been incubating in our mind for years, and with [the] power of the next-gen consoles, we can finally make our dream project a reality."

    this game looks kinda like a spy game, which i like, but im not sure if you can free roam....

    there really isn't any info about Edge of Reality that would make me thing other then the company as expired.

    i think if they canned this game they would of let us know. That or they're "experimenting"

    game canceled? its been a couple of years since they were supposed to ship the game out. its a bummer, cuz this game looked pretty new and exciting. =(

    No new info in a couple of years more than likely means it's canned Mechworior. Too bad, because this game looked pretty polished. Another one bites the dust.

    There're several games that I've been watching that I haven't heard anything about in ages. WTF? They can't ALL be canceled, but where is the info?

    I've been waiting patiently and calmly for info on this game to be released. I'm starting to get impatient though. I have very high hopes for this game.

    Maybe. You never know. It just might be pretty good, although it doesn't realy look the FPSs I know. Oh well. I'll wait and see how things go.

    it's look like splinter cell but on first person shooter, i like reality games, the company said it will be a new gaming style..i'll wait and see.

    from what I've read, John Cipher uses only a knife and his bare fists to snap necks, ect. To level the playing feild, since they have guns, the developers plan to give him bullet time and amazingly fast reflexes. Look it up in the last issue of OPM. P.S: my condolences to the OPM staff and fans.

    I'll buy the PS3 for the games and because I just love the FF series that's my no.1 choice. plus I don't like microsoft corp. very much do to all te sh*t they doin'. Gamers should buy the console that's got they're favorite games and not the best specs. What's with the know-it-all's?

    and oh, this Ciphon Complex looks promising, but will it be just a ripoff of splinter cell I wunder...

    That one screenshot looks amazing... If that is in game graphics and not an artist's representation (like the first one) this game looks impressive graphically...

    Can we get something straight? This game has two screen shots posted and no information at all on it. Now is not the time to be comparing it to other video games.
