Koei's latest Romance is golden

Development on Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI complete; PlayStation 2 game ships to stores February 6.

Another member of Koei's legion of games is battle-ready. The publisher today revealed that the latest in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI, has gone gold and will ship to North American stores on February 6 for the PlayStation 2.

The strategy game is set during the end of the Han dynasty, in the second and third centuries, and sees players trying to rule China through diplomacy and warfare. The game has undergone a graphical overhaul, with art inspired by ancient Chinese oil paintings.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

one of the nicest game I ever played, the only hick is that they do not evolve the game enough like adding some real time combat or whatever, I tried this demo and I really like the ameliorations though, keep it up Koei and please add more to this gameit could become a Legend.

I've been hooked with this series since Romance V. I got RotKV-XI. I have also tried palying I and IV. Hmmm... I don't know... It's a very cumbersome game, but I really am hooked with it.

The PlayStation 3 really could have used this title. This just strengthens my belief that in 2007, the PS3's biggest competition won't be the XBOX 360 (or the Wii), it will be the PS2.

Its not that there are 11 of them, its that the last good one was ROTK4 Wall of Fire for the SNES. Of course, I do continue to buy some of their games. The DW series is a really nice button masher when I want to just destroy stuff. Either that or I go play GTA.

I laugh at people who complain about 11 Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. I mean it's okay to have 12 Final Fantasy games (and that's not counting spin-offs and sequels), and 24 Castlevania games... BUT 11 THREE KINGDOMS GAMES?! OH DEAR LORD NO!

I can barely keep track of them. Let's see what this one has in terms of new content.

Well, as long as people keep buying them Koei will keep making them. I for one love Koei's efforts with their games.

I wish the would combine those games into one. That way you get the strategy of ROTK, the battle system of Kessen, and the button mashing of Dynasty/Samurai Warriors. They just keep putting out these sub par games, none of which I would consider really good.

Samurai Warriors is the best of the series ... it's really a fresh change from ROTK ... considering that i am chinese, KOEI seem to have forgotten about another famous story that has as much potential .... The 108 bandit kings ~ the true inspiration to the Suikoden series .... that has a great storyline that could spawn a number of series too!

Romance + Dynasty Warriors +Samurai Warriors + Kessen = I wish I was CEO of Koei...I mean talk about milking ideas bone dry yet still making phatty $$ from it. In 2034 when Romance of the Three Kingdoms XXVI or Dynasty Warriors 17 Xtreme Legends comes out for the PS5 I cant wait to see all my dreams of ruling as a virtual reality Cao Cao

I'm willing to bet my freaking home that this won't reach the UK. We didn't get the 8th game until last year and KOEi had the nerve to whine about crappy sales even though they never bothered to advertise the damn game.

The translation patches for the PC versions suck too since they only translate menus and games. It'll probably take less time and effort on my part to learn how to read kanji and import the game from Japan than it would take to wait for a UK release.

Seriously KOEI will release constant DW games every six months even though there hasn't been a good one since DW3: XL yet they won't release good games in the UK. I'm beginning to get the feeling that KOEI seems to hate Europe.

I really loved Genghis Khan. And I really loved the first 7 romance games, but holy crap... someone put Koei out of business please. They have released 11 Romance games, close to that number of Dynasty Warrior games and three Kessens. Thats almost 30 games abusing the same time period and its a serious case of Madden fever here. Most of these games are nearly the exact same game with tiny improvements. They should have stopped at RTK 7, that was the high point. Now its getting sad.

@Zaxex - They released Keseen 3. Its horrible. I loved the second, never had the chance to play the first, but the third was really, really horrible.
