Haney joins Tiger's PGA Tour 09

Coach to golfing legend will provide custom commentary in EA Sports' latest trip to the links; August 26 tee-time schedule for 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, and Wii.

Although they're no death and taxes, annual installments in Electronic Arts' many pro-sporting franchises are one of life's near certainties. The publisher has already announced a number of its usual suspects for the 2008 season, including Madden NFL 09 and its collegiate counterpart NCAA Football 09, and today it officially teed up Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Wii.

Now you, too, can be as good as Tiger Woods!

This year, Tiger will be sharing the spotlight with his real-world personal coach, Hank Haney. Commentary from Haney is the primary new addition to the game's single-player career mode, and according to EA, the dialogue will be customized to a golfer's individual performance in a round.

EA's Tiburon studio has also revisited the game's online component. GamerNet will let players undertake various challenges directly from the links, such as longest drive or best approach shot, and it will also feature daily leaderboards. Tiger Woods 09's online mode will also benefit from simultaneous play. According to the publisher, this new offering will let golfers play each hole at the same time, which it hopes will speed up matches and let players take a course at their own pace.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 is expected to hit the links on August 26.

    tiger woods on the wii was the funnest golfing experience ive had on a video game.... nothing like swinging a controller like a golf club haha... i played it on the 360, which looked alot better obviously, but i had a funner time with it on the wii... they definately need multiplayer season, id get it for sure!! new courses are always sweet too!

    they seem to be the same game year after year just with some new features. its a great game but what would make it better is being able to drive golf carts and run people over

    satchell the course your refering to is called emerald dragon as is suppossedly located in somewhere the mt. fuji region of japan

    Eh, Tiger woods started getting crappy after 05. But i might pick this up for PSP, because i had a blast playing 07 on the PSP.

    they really need to add the multiplayer season tour mode. as far as i'm concerned, that's about all this game is missing. I just want to be able to play seasons with my friends and family like i can in NCAA and Madden (going into the 4th season of NCAA).
    I can live without all the online stuff.
    5 new courses is pretty sweet. :0)

    Tiger Woods is one of my favorite EA sports games with Madden being #1.

    i wish they would have the course that was in the 05 version that had a par 3 in the shape of a dragon, Augusta as well.

    theres a reason there hasn't been agusta.

    have you not heard stories about media during the masters?

    garry maccord is banned from the masters because of his "these greens are so quick it's almost as if they received a bikini wax".

    it's not that they don't want the course in the game, just getting the rights to put it in are very difficult since they protect the courses integrity in a very strict and harsh manor.

    give me a true course editor on the console version.

    give me a caddy that is interactive as well.
