ESPN Major League Baseball pitched
The World Series Baseball 2K series' successor is coming the Xbox and PS2 in Spring 2004--no word yet on the GameCube edition.
Sega and Blue Shift pitched the newest addition to their popular World Series Baseball 2K series to the public today--only it's not called World Series Baseball 2K4. Renamed ESPN Major League Baseball, the game is scheduled for a Spring 2004 release for the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. So far, no GameCube version has been announced.
According to Sega, ESPN Major League Baseball will build on the B2K games, adding realistic television-style cut scenes, realistic close-ups, and ESPN-styled wipes and overlays. Two of ESPN's proprietary tools, the K-Zone and GameCast, will help gamers keep track of batters' strike zones and pitchers' throwing statistics. The game will also have a new cover athlete, Jason Giambi of the New York Yankees, and feature play-by-play analysis by real-life MLB commentators Jon Miller and Karl Ravech.
