Arena Football goes for two, gets covered

Electronic Arts' boxed-in football sim gets second edition with Road to Glory; Chicago Rush's Bob McMillen featured on cover.

Football game news came out of Electronic Arts today, but did not involve either of its one-two-punch combinations of Madden NFL or NCAA Football franchises. Instead, the news detailed the latest for one of EA's other football series, Arena Football.

The next game in the series--Arena Football: Road to Glory--was announced today and should be in stores on February 27. Unlike the debut edition of the franchise, Road to Glory will be exclusive to the PlayStation 2. (EA Sports Arena Football was released on both the PS2 and Xbox in early February.)

In addition, Sony also revealed that Arena Football League star and Chicago Rush fullback/linebacker Bob McMillen will be featured as the game's cover athelete. McMillen is the league's all-time leading rusher with over 1,400 yards on the ground and has been on the winning ArenaBowl team three times.

New to this year's addition is a roster of more than 40 teams, including all the AFL teams and teams from the AFL's developmental league, the af2. In addition, in-game players can start their long road to professional football by graduating from the af2 and entering the AFL.

Arena Football: Road to Glory has not yet been priced or rated.

Having it PS2 exclusive is a dumb idea. I would have bought it, no i would have pre-ordered this game from EA, but no, my PS2 burnt out (like they all do after 4yrs). So i have an xbox and a 360 so i have to stick to playing my old arena game for the xbox. Great job EA you really f---ed this one up.

This would have been a great game.

This game is going to be awesome. Arena Football is very fast sport and makes a great game. I hope EA doesn't botch it like they did with uh...NBA Live? and I don't know why everyone hates on Madden. It would be one of my favorite games on 360 if it had a good commentator.

Well I thought the 1st Arena Football game was alright, but they needed another year to get it perfect. Hopefully, EA can improve on this version, instead of the roster updates that some people call foul on them for.

'I've seen clips of Australian football...it appears to be the equivalent of what the XFL was here in America. That lasted a whole year here. It was freaking nuts. On the other hand according to Wikipedia Australian Football has been going since 1857...That's INSANE!'

Well australians are bad asses....and considering they spawned from us Brits, then that makes us Uber Bad Asses...tough luck friend

i never saw the XFL, i remember them plugging it on WWF/E shows. couldnt've been better than watching the NFL. COWBOYS ALL THE WAY

Oh yeah!! Bobby Mac representin' the AFL Champs, baby!!

I agree with putting it on PS2 only. What this needs is a wide release on next-gen systems and much faster, arcade-style gameplay to empasize the fast pace that the AFL is known for.

At any rate I don't think it's really that big a deal for two different leagues in two different countries to be using similar acronyms.

Holy F*ing crap, this is probably the ONLY Football I do care about getting,(im a huge NFL fan but the Madden series sucks *ss) and it goes exclusive to a last gen piece of crap? when I saw the news of a new Arena Football game I was hoping it was gonna be on 360. Wow, EA really does suck.

Yay! Another mediocre EA product that I can safely ignore!! With so little cash left in my pocket for post-Christmas purchasing, leave it to good ol' EA to NOT tempt me to buy their product!
    Thanks EA! Yer the bestest!!!

Being last-gen exclusive is really dumb. An Xbox 360 version or on the Wii or PS3 would be better.
