SpongeBob gets Drawn to Life

New edition of DS game arriving alongside Naked Brother Band title as THQ's Nickelodeon-licensed games reach $1 billion sales milestone.

Last year's DS adventure game Drawn to Life offered up a new take on user-generated content by allowing players to use the system's stylus and touch screen to draw a variety of objects in the game, including the main character. The one-off project did well enough that THQ decided to expand on the idea, revealing earlier this year that a Wii edition is in the works.

Now the publisher is mixing the Drawn to Life brand with one of its high-profile licensed properties, as THQ has announced Drawn to Life: SpongeBob Square Pants Edition for the DS. Players will once again draw their own characters and objects in the game, but this time, the adventure will see players crossing paths with the denizens of Bikini Bottom as they take on DoodleBob's rogue drawings.

THQ also revealed the rest of its Nickelodeon lineup for the year and revealed that the partnership with the cable television network has so far yielded sales of more than 50 million units and $1 billion. The lineup also includes a debut title based on The Naked Brothers Band, new installments of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and SpongeBob SquarePants featuring Nicktoons, all three of which will appear on the PlayStation 2, DS, and Wii. Rounding out the slate is Tak and the Guardians of Gross for the PS2 and Wii (with Tak Mojo Mistake arriving on the DS), and Back at the Barnyard: Slop Bucket Games (working title) for the DS.

All of the above games are set for a fall release.

Why'd they have to go and TV-license it? I'm not buying it, or the original. You guys remember the GC Spongebob game? Or the GBA one?

How can you tell who voted what on a comment? I didn't know it showed that info.

Anyways, I wonder if you will get to hold the Wiimote like a big marker or something and actually draw with it... Other than that, drawing with the analog stick may be kinda awkward.

I got pretty excited when I saw that tak game. I hope that it is not based on the crappy TV show, I hope it is like the video games the show is based off of.

Ummm, does no one even remember that SB actually lost in the best animated cartoon for the Kid's Choice Awards. Guess which one won, AVATAR!

I looked up "Naked Brothers Band" on the internet and got porno sites. I dont want my kids to go through that! Spongebob is pretty cool. It's my 1-year old's favorite cartoon. "Spongebob" is the 3rd word he larned to say after mom and Dad!

Thanks for the -1 I see my words have really affected you.

I believe the show was intended to be random. Like most well made cartoons its entertaining to kids and includes a dialogue that is entertaining to adults as well. Its not my problem if you don't agree, and I doubt any professional help will need to be sought, we'll see.

hiho24 i find your comment hilarious. Spongebob is mindless random rubbbish and if you actually find it funny...you need proffesional help. Whatever happened to the great cartoons that didnt dumb down kids and actually provided some entertainment.

"I've always cringed at the name itself, stopped watching Nick before it was even heard of though. It couldn't possibly be worse than "The Amanda Show" was, could it?"
I remember last month when i went to visit my cousins i asked what they were watching and they said the NBB. O_O i just walked away

Spongebob is pretty much the best Cartoon being aired on TV right now. Everything else is just crap either budget simplistic drawing or 3d CGI which just looks creepy. Go Spongebob!
